Howie at Leather Expo was kind enough to help/design a furniture arrangement for our theater room-1 couch and 2 recliners. The 2 recliners were the reference point for design, leather grade, leather consistency and leather color. The brand labeled on the recliner footrest was Italsofa. (This would be our 3rd purchase of ItalSofa products from Howard Magowitz). I stated that I want that couch and 2 recliners in this leather. I bought the couch first with the plan to buy the recliners shortly thereafter due to cost. I ordered the couch, the couch came in and was delivered. A month later, I ordered the recliners; they came in 5 months later. Upon delivery of the recliners, I noticed a distinct difference in the leather, called the store (as evident by phone records) and Howie offered to make it right by a reorder. 1 month later they do not renew their business license (which is a criminal offense to do business without a license), the return phone calls stop. I caught wind that they went out of business, called the store to confirm a dosconnected number, called the OAG for consumer protection, called my VISA card company, won the dispute, Leather Expo had the right to come get the couches, they did not, got my money back, they called the police, concocked a story of theft and pressed charges against me and wanted to send me to jail. Went to court, and through intimidation and threats I had to plea an Alford plea. During the process, the other owner Arthur tried to extort my refund my threatening to have me arrested in front of my family if I didnt send him letters of apology, an admission of theft, and a cashiers check within 48 hours of his call. Unbelievable, but true!!! I did not stand down to their intimidation and threats, unlike the other consumers on this thread. Would love to know others opinions.
