You would be better off borrowing money off the mafia then dealing with this company. I was in a car accident and was hit by an illegal alien from mexico (of course he had no insurance) and was in the hospital for 3 months. I work construction and was earning 15% of what I normally made on disability. My car was repossesed by ford and I owed approximately 8k on it and had only about a year and half left of paying on it. (2004 ford expedition 4wd). The repo company gave me a card with a referral code saying to call leap and to mention the code because he said they could lower my payments and get my car back. I called leap and spoke to a Charles Martinez (or Chuck I can't remember) and he said he could help me. Ford wanted $2100 from me to get my car back. Mr. Martinez said if I send him $1000 and pay about 350 a month for THREE AND A HALF YEARS I could get my truck back. Are they serious!! 350x42 months equals 14700 plus the 1k I put down equals 15700 for a car that I could get for 8k!!! After doing the math in my head I kept asking him what is your interest rate and he kept saying it is not an interest rate it is a "rental charge." What the hell does that mean??? Ok it is a rental charge of SEVEN THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLLARS!!! Does that mean because you call it a damn rental charge that I am supposed to be ok with that??? That is literally an interest rate of nearly 30 percent. When I kept asking him what does the rental charge equate to in interest he starts getting pissed and irritated that someone with a brain is asking questions to regards how much money they are being charged. When I said that was too much money his arrogant response was "it is what it is." Is that line supposed to sell me???????? I could not belive how rude and arrogant this guy was. When I told him I would rather let the truck go back to ford than pay that he offered to lower my security deposit to maybe 500 but then my payments went up. Who did this guy think he was fooling???? At least with the mafia they would say-yes we charge a ripoff rate and they would tell you straight up and not play games. With this company they play the hero routine and say oh yes we can help you and there is no interest rate and the reality is they are rude lying scammers. They start lying straight from the start instead of just being honest and saying we are expensive but if you really want your truck we may be able to help you. They actually tell you they can SAVE YOU MONEY. Yes my payments to them would be a little less than what I was paying ford but 42 months as opposed to 18 months?????? Do they think people are that stupid? When I told him no thanks then he says well maybe we can get you different car through enterprise car sales. I told him if I put 1k down how much would a 13-16k car cost and he tells me around 450 a month for 5 years?? That is like paying 28k for a car that you bought for 13-16k????? I said why don't I just put 1k down and buy an 7-8k car to have less payments and he says they don't have any cheap cars like that. I asked him Ford of dallas has tons of used cars with less thank 70k miles for less than 9k and he says we only use enterprise because their cars are serviced ahead of schedule. I told him my brother is a mechanic at the ford dealership (where I bought my expedition) and they have one owner certified clean carfax cars seviced by ford at the dealership and could I buy from there and he says NO because certification does not mean anything- Who does this guy think he his? does he think he invented the car????!!! He was so arrogant and rude I could not believe it. It was just like take it or leave it. Bottom line- I let my car go to repo because I did not have 2k to get it back. Went 5 months without a car- rented one from time to time and saved 2k and went to ford and got financed on a cheap 8k car (yes the rate was high I think 19.99 percent but not like 30 percent that leap wanted on only an expensive car so they could make even more money) but with a 3 year loan my payments were still only 346 a month for 3 years and I am done. My brother knows a friend who works at the repo yard and he told him that leap pays the repo company a lot of money to refer customers to them so they can just screw them out of their hard earned savings. This company is as evil as they come-they lie and act like they are here to help instead of just being honest and straight upfront but in reality they are greedy arrogant bastards. Oh and if you do get a loan through them the guy at the repo yard says they put a gps on your car and a device that will prevent the car from starting if you are even ONE DAY LATE. Imagine you are one day late and you have an emergency and need to go to the hospital and your car won't start because of these greedy lying scamming jerks. If your car gets repossesed-either get it back through the lender who repossesd it or just save a couple of grand and get a 7-8k car financed with anyone but leap. With the money you save you could literally buy two cars. Just buy a quality 7-8k with 70-100k miles on it and believe me the way cars are built now it will last to minimum 200k miles no problem. Leap tries to sell you on the fact that they will get you a quality car with less miles but that quality car will cost you 27k grand and you will be driving a Kia or a hyundai or something else similar. I bought a 2005 camry with 82k miles and the car runs perfectly with NO PROBLEMS. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS-DOING BUSINESS WITH THEM IS LITERALLY LIKE SELLING YOUR SOUL TO THE DEVIL-IT SOUNDS GREAT BUT YOU LEARN VERY FAST THAT YOU GOT SCREWED. Oh and by the way the better busines bureau affiliation is a joke. ANYBODY CAN JOIN THE BBB-ALL THEY REQUIRE IS A YEARLY PAYMENT AND IF SOMEBODY COMPLAINS ABOUT YOU ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS RESPOND TO THE COMPLAINT AND YOU CAN STILL BE A MEMBER FOREVER-ALL THEY WANT IS A YEARLY PAYMENT AND YOU ARE GOOD TO GO... |
