We are the developers of the Hurricane Bay Homes written in the scam report.
Two weeks ago, Leah Kaufman appeared at an arbitration and under oath, lied about several details.
When Leah Kaufman was hired by us (developers) we approached TRPA in April of 2006 and spoke with Peter Eichler, a TRPA planner. Previously, Placer Couty had turned down our application for a subdivision of a 1/2 acre parcel located in Hurricane Bay on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe.
Peter Eichler told Leah and the developers that there is an A/C process that could streamline our bulding permit approvals. Leah and the developers walked away and proceeded to engage in a 10 month, very expensive process that followed the A/C process that Peter described.
After 10 months, the developers and Leah came back to TRPA expecting their permit, Peter Eichler appeared confused and said "What permit". The developers turned to Leah and asked for documentation---Leah had none..no ..nada..she never documented the A/C process and left the developers high and dry.
Dennis Oliver with TRPA called the developers subsequently and said that Gary Mitkiff, another TRPA consultant located in South Shore Lake Tahoe knew the A/C process.
Developers met with Gary Mitkiff, Joanne Marchetta, Dennis Oliver, Peter Eichler, John Singlaub, Leah Kaufman plus 3 other planners within a week, explained their green and solar project and received approval immediately based on Gary Mitkiff's info and the merits of the project.
Leah Kaufman attempted to take credit for the project, the developers were furious with her, they had already paid $20,000 to Kaufman and had little to show for it. Gary Spohr, one of the developers, asked for a written chronology of events by Kaufman as the developers could not figure out what she had been doing for the past 10 months, especially without documenting the very pivitol Eichler meeting.
Kaufman lied in the arbitration, when asked by attorney Anderson "Why would you create a chronolgoy of the situation" she replied "I don't know"..She knows very well why she did it. She also lied that she had provided documentatiion to the developers. Developers asked for documentation at the point of her termination but she refused, said that the developers owed her $900...after paying her a questionable $20,000.
Leah lies under oath, will turn on her clients and will threaten clients--she is a planner to avoid--completely concur with the author and there are many others like us--and those that have sued her with confidentially agreements who cannot speak to her betrayal capabilities. Leah's nickname is "Cockoo for Cocoa Puffs" so beware of any responses coming from that byline. |
