Kennesaw Municipal Court State Court of Cobb County Drivers Beware: Trickery and Scare Tactics Used to Force Drivers to Pay Trumped Up Speeding Ticke |

What started as a "so called" speeding violation in the Kennesaw Municipal Court has escalated to a misdemeanor court case with the Court of Cobb County. This was done through trickery and manipulation of the court system by the presiding judge and his cohort(s). Firstly, I was falsely accused of speeding and was issued a speeding ticket. (This is a story within itself.) I chose to appear in court on the date & time as stated on the citation. When I and others showed up for court, we were told that this is not court but a pretrial and that was why no officers were there. (Please note that the citation stated that it served as official notice for the court hearing.) The judge then went on to give examples of what he did to people who tried to fight there tickets thus discouraging through fear of repercussions. After all of his threats, I was the only one who still wanted to fight my charge. I was then told I had to "schedule" a court date. I was taken to the clerk who issued an official notice of court date "rescheduling." That's when I realized I was really in court and had been tricked into rescheduling so that the officer would be there. At this court date, I filed for a dismissal of charges. The same judge told me I had to go to the county seat because it was supposedly too late to file. There was also another young man in court who was told the same thing. He couldn't make the new court date because he was moving to California and so he reluctantly paid his fine. He also let them know that they were scamming people. Now I have received my new court date for the State Court of Cobb County. This letter has a case number and guess what? The case number is for a misdemeanor. How did a traffic ticket get bumped to a misdemeanor? Now I know why the judge told me I was going to need a lawyer. He gave me a heads up on what he was doing. I was just too naive to catch on. So now, I am looking into what are my rights at this point and time. This type of blatant corruption should be reported and brought to the light via the media and condemned by the higher courts.
