If you are looking for a home, or seeking out a real estate company to invest in, and you do your research, this is what you might find: "Hovnanian Enterprises, Inc. (NYSE: HOV) is a United States real estate company involved in every aspect of marketing homes, including design,construction and sales. The company works with individual detached housing as well as higher-occupancy dwellings, including townhouses, condominiums and retirement homes. In most cases, the company acquires and develops the land on which these developments are built, but in some geographic regions, Hovnanian offers to build their proprietary house designs on private land. The company consists of two operating groups, homebuilding and financial services, and recently entered the Fortune 500. Despite some recent financial difficulties due to the 2008вЂ“2009 recession and financial crisis, Hovnanian Enterprises remains the sixth largest American homebuilder." Impressive, right? Well, letвЂ™s bring it down to the consumer level and away from the PR writings of those seeking your purchase or investment. Before you invest any money or even any time do a bit more research and you will find as I have that their company philosophy does not include Ethics or Trust or Truth in any working, active document or as demonstrated by their staff. And some of their staff will admit to the shamefulness of their employer. As a consumer of their product in 2006, I can assure you that in my experience the company does not stand behind anything it construct or sells. But, it is good about promises вЂ“ 7 years of them with non-performance. I teach Ethics at the university level, and believe me this company scoffs at the word and what it means to consumers.
