Paid for expert answer to a specific question regarding auto repair problem. Was assured that I would not be charged until I was satisfied with answer. Received a very difficult to accept answer and was charged even though I had not accepted the answer. I took the answer at face value, purchased car parts and discovered that the answer provided was incorrect. I was able to challenge the answer and respond with follow up a few times. Then, with the question completely unaddressed in a substantive way, they closed the question. I added another "question," which required that I pay more money, with the following text: "This appears to be a complete scam. You charge for expert information, then provide guesswork. I will spread the word that this web site should be avoided." Within 5 minutes it was "Locked by Customer Service" with the following detail provided: "Note: This question has been locked/hidden from normal users!" This company buries complaints in the name of "Customer Service." Brilliant. |

When a customer posts a question on our site, they are required to place a fully-refundable, good faith deposit into their JustAnswer account which is equivalent to the price they are willing to pay for a satisfactory answer. If the customer does not receive a satisfactory answer, they may request a refund at any time. This deposit process can be found on our site under the How JA Works link at the bottom of the home page.
Without being able to review your account, I can say that a question page is marked as "closed" upon customer request or when the question page has “timed out.” A question is “timed out” if there is no response or activity on the question page after 24 hours. Though a question page is closed, the customer can still access their page to post any follow-up comments or questions. When a response is posted by the customer, more "time" is added to the question.
Furthermore, questions can be locked when they are reported to our customer support team as customer support issues rather than questions to be answered by an Expert. Your question, most likely, was flagged and reported by an Expert so that our customer support team could respond to you your issue.
