I made the mistake of hiring Johnny Ray (not sure if this is his real name) to refinish my two bathtubs. I found his ad on Craigslist where he advertises over 19 years experience. He claims to be professional and to be insured. His website has an old picture of him and numerous testimonies. He will deal with you by text message and accepts cash only. He will give you a written receipt with his first name and phone number. He does not have business cards. He drives an older chevrolet pick up truck. You will not realize that you have been scammed by him until a couple of days after he leaves your home with your hard-earned money. The coating he sprays on the bathtub will look great when he leaves but will peel and bubble within 72 hours. He will not return your text messages or calls afterward. Don't expect him to look like a typical con-man though. He's an older, balding gentleman with a kind voice. He takes the time to explain to you the product he uses and how its superior to others. Before he leaves your home, you will be convinced that you have hired the right person and will want to recommend him to others. Beware, its all part of his plan. I have read numerous reviews that all read similar to mine. He uses the same tactic each time. He is not a professional bathtub refinisher but he IS professional at stealing money. His website makes him look like he loves both his country and his job. However, he is a disgrace to the United States and the many legitimate small businesses that operate here. If I can save another elderly person on a fixed budget from trusting this man, I will have some peace of mind. I have made a report along with many others to the Better Business Bureau. Our reports have been closed because Johnny Ray refuses to accept their certified letters. He also changes his website addresses routinely. I only wish I had done some research before inviting this criminal into my home. I should have checked the numerous reviews of him on the internet. I wanted to trust in the small business. I will be much more careful in the future. If you are reading this and are one of the many individuals that have been ripped off, feel free to respond.
