When I purchased a Vehicle through a dealership in Tampa, I was sold this Total Loss Protection Policy, which was pushed as (GAP Insurance). First this is not insurance nor is this company an insurance company at al. What they are is an instalment payment company who claims they will pay the GAP in value is a car is wrecked and the value is less that what you own on a Loan. After several years I cancelled this GAP coverage on November 18th, 2011 and as of today December 29th, this company has failed to pay me the remainder balance they owe me of $473.57. I provided all the information including a payoff of the original loan which they are to send the borrower the remainder of the coverage back as a refund. Its now 41 days and counting, and now they claim they will send me a check next year.. That's BS! They will lie, and delay and make up excuses and say they sent a refund on Dec 5th, but somehow the check did not show up. several weeks later I contacted them again and they claimed they had to put a stop payment on the previous refund check. A week later they still did not even do that yet and more excuses and delays and claim is is now the Holiday so it will take longer and the person who gives the refund is on vacation, blah blah blah... That excuse was given on a Thursday not even a holiday day. So I have been ripped off $473.57 still as of today Dec 29th 2011. I also filed a complaint with the State of Florida Office of Financial Regulation Complaint# 32169. In addition to my complaint, The State of Florida could NOT even find that this company JM&A Group or Jim Morgan & Associated even had a registered business license in the State of Florida, They found the listing but NO BUSINESS LICENSE. Which they will further investigate.. I also re-contacted the dealership and warned them about not getting reimbursed for my loss of $473.57 and JMA Lack of a business license, and they sounded like they were going to cancel their business relationship with this company and try to get me my refund processed. I would advise anybody who buys a New Vehicle, NOT PURCHASE This RIPOFF GAP Coverage, at least from this company JM& A Group or Jim Moran & Associates Deerfield Beach, Florida.. A P.O.'d Consumer who got ripped off.
