Jim Strickland Hardwood Flooring Hardwood floor redo gone bad Garden Grove, California |

We hired Jim Strickland to redo our hardwood floors. He was a very nice guy but he sent what appeared to be an inexperienced crew to do the job. He never worked on our floors. We had to move out of our house while the floors were being done. It took longer than expected but we did not complain. When we finally got back in to inspect the job we discovered that the crew had turned on the heater to "dry out" the floors more quickly and blew all the dust from sanding that had accumulated in the heating vents onto the floors. They had to be redone. We were very understanding even though that meant we could not move back in for another week. During this time the crew had stored my solid, wood desk outside on the deck and it rained. They covered it, but their cover leaked, my desk warped and the finish came off. They did a half-baked job of fixing it. The varnish peeled off a few weeks later. They missed entire sections of the floor, leaving it rough. Then a bottle of scented oil dropped on the floor and leaked underneath and stained a large section. Jim said that should not have happened if it had been properly sealed and that he would fix it. During this entire time we were extremely patient. With the redo, with the desk, the unfinished sections and the stain. We understand things happen and as long as Jim fixed the problems we were fine. We never heard or saw him again. We called and called and called but he never returned our messages. We even left messages saying if there were an illness in the family we would understand, we just wanted to get the job fixed. Although most of the final job was done satisfactorily, the mistakes, the delays, the refusing to come back and fix the problems has led us to write this about Strickland Hardwood Flooring. We could not in clear conscience recommend him to anyone.
