Itech Line
SCAM!!
15th of Jan, 2013 by Kiddicted
I fell victm to ITech Line's scam today. I Googled the number for McAfee, and reached them. I directly asked them if this was McAfee, and they said yes. They also advised they were MS Certified and could remote my PC and see what my issue was. I authorized this (duh). They then advised I had all kinds of viruses and was near catasrophic, irriversable damage to my PC if I didn't pop for the $199.99 to fix my issue (which was only trying to download McAffee anti-virus software) right this minute. They werey pulling up all kinds of scary looking stuff. So they took control of my PC, started removing stuff and re-adding stuff (mothing that I couldn't have done). I advised I could just go to the GeekSquad and they said that would cost me over $800. They took all my personal information, address, phone, etc. Meanwhile, a red flag rose, and I googled them to see if they were a scam. Indeed they are. So, I advised the tech, via remote dialogue box that I was calling MS Directly to verify their association. He panicked, and tried to start running something I was not familiar with, so I shut down. I then called MS cirectly, who are aware of this scam. MS is currently running a diagnostic, and when they began, I had no viruses. Now, towards the end of the diagnosis, ITech has come in 18 times trying to infect my PC. And, since they have my phone number now, they are calling non-stop (caller ID = unknown), I have also contacted my bank, but the charge is pending. I have cancelled my credit card, so hopefully it is rejected. I will be filing a Congressional Letter of Complaint agaisnt ITech. They are not part of the Better Business Bureau, so complaint avenues are limited. Wanted to write this to save others the trouble I am experiencing with them. RUN from them as fast as you ca!.

Almost the same thing happened to me, but I was charged $149.99 and was promised 30 days protection. I also had Geek Squad and was told that they couldn't help and that I was losing files by the minute. After their "service" was performed, they spent another 20 minutes documenting that I was satisfied with their service. Eight days later, my computer was infected. Unfortunately I had no recourse but to reverse the charge from my credit card. The company disputed the fraud claim I filed. I have no documented proof of anything they said, so I was not successful at having my charges reversed.
I feel your pain and have learned a very valuable and expensive lesson: Never pay for anything online without a written agreement sent to you via email.

If you look the company up on the Better Business Bureau, you will see that there are over 60 reports that they are not even responding to.

This is a very devious marketing scheme and should not be tolerated. Their entire company is based out of a Non US country, so there is little protection for the consumer.
