iPOP-international presentation of performers Joseph Beauchamp Models don't pay to have representation or training when you have the
3rd of Dec, 2011 by User218689
First let me say that I am not a parent whose child did not get chosen. Quite the contrary! The scouts flipped when they saw my daughter and her portfolio. They could not believe such a young girl could be so talented! I was told by Zach that she was a top contender in the whole convention, and they could not wait to get her signed. So when we went back for a second audition I brought what my agent told me. Yes, you guessed it, she is already a model for a international modeling agency. She has a professional photographer who does all her portfolio images. All of which iPOP just LOVED! Then I handed them her composite card which has all her information and address of our agent. Sort of like a little resume for models. Anyway, in the industry we use these when we go in for interviews for jobs. The whole time they are looking our scout goes to get his superior to see if we can wheal and deal. I at the beginning, of this meeting questioned why we would need to pay money for a child who is obviously already a professional to "Showcase" her ,and he shocked me by saying he thought maybe she would like to help the "other" girls learn her talent. So let me get this straight...I'm going to PAY you for my daughter to train YOUR clients? Since quite obviously they are not yet modeling... So what in the world could this have possibly done for my daughter? Oh don't get me wrong, she would love to help any little girl with her modeling, but seriously? Really what surprised me the most was all the deals we were going to get like for example they offered us to only pay $1,755.00 for 10 showcase rehearsals instead of 5. So I'm starting to think this is not a reputable modeling company because the entire time my daughter has been modeling, we have paid her photographer for her comp cards only. Not one dime has been paid to our agent. And thank goodness years ago, we took a training course in scam scams--of course provided at no cost by our agent. So how did this fiasco end? Basically the same as any other shoot. We left knowing we have a beautiful talented daughter. Plus she LOVED getting more compliments--good for her confidence.
