IntlMOVE promises "to serve you and attend to your international moving and shipping needs professionally, honestly, and with the highest level of integrity." Let me assure all you readers out there that IntlMOVE is highly unprofessional, dishonest, and disreputable. I would go as far as calling them thieves. Right now, IntlMOVE has thousands of our dollars in their pocket and all of our possessions (totaling over $40,000) in their "consolidation center" in Miami. The shipping of our belongings was to have occurred from Southwestern US to Australia, and these same belongings have apparently gone East instead of West. Our selection of IntlMOVE has developed into a nightmare.
Before our move, I had contacted various moving companies based on their advertised licenses and reputability, and I received numerous quotes. We decided upon IntlMOVE because they provided us with what we thought was a fair quote, and in hindsight, were "reeling us in" and "baiting" us with good customer service. I had many conversations with Frank, IntlMOVE's sales rep, and he assured me that our move would be a smooth one. We were given an estimated 8 - 10 weeks delivery date to our new home. IntlMOVE requests "payment in full" upfront, and we complied with their request to wire money from our bank account. However, once IntlMOVE received payment and had a subcontractor pick up our belongings for shipping, we never heard from IntlMOVE again until 7 weeks later when we unexpectedly received an email invoice asking us for thousands of additional dollars. In that email, they stated that they would not proceed further with our move until they obtained this new monetary amount from us via electronic bank wire. If we were to pay this amount, what is to prevent IntlMOVE from again charging us even more? It now appears that we have been scammed out of a significant amount of money AND we have no belongings, as IntlMOVE has just pocketed all money, placed our belongings in an unnamed warehouse in Miami, and has not paid any of their subcontractors (this has been verified as I have contacted these companies. . . they are not happy either with IntlMOVE).
So what has IntlMOVE actually done with our money and belongings? We have left numerous voicemail messages and written many emails to the appointed email address at IntlMOVE asking them just that. My husband and I are getting no straight answers from this so-called company. Eric (their "Operations Director) might reply with a terse one liner via email (that is how we found out that our belongings were in Miami), but otherwise nothing else other than demanding more cash (by electronic wire only). It would appear that IntlMOVE is just trying to extort more money from us (and others before us). And we just want our belongings back. Any recommended recourse against this scam company would be welcome. We have already contacted an attorney, various websites, govt agencies, and an investigative journalist. Please do NOT use IntlMOVE! As most know, moving is a stressful enough time. Hopefully, this posting will save you a ton of heartache AND headaches! |
