The most deceptive, unscrupulous, SLEAZY phone call I have ever experienced.
I placed a call to order the I-Renew bracelet after seeing it on TV and the call lasted 47 MINUTES!! I was unable to end the call because once they had my cc info the automated voice basically threatened to charge my card for all kinds of money unless I hit the correct response at the END of the description, and hanging up prior to that prompt would be taken as a yes, and the card would be charged.
The voice said that the order was complete and now they wanted to tell me about one offer, a $100 gift card from Walmart, and 'I didn't have to do anything...they would automatically bill the credit card that I had just provided'.
3 loooong minutes about how wonderful this special offer was, and at the end, it said to push 1 for yes, and 2 for no...of course I hit NO, and it said that perhaps they had not explained all the wonderful benefits good enough, to please give them a few more minutes of my time, and listen to some of highlights. This scenario was repeated FIVE times over the course of 47 minuts. FIVE different 'offers' were made, I said no FIVE times, and I was told an additional TEN times that I had perhaps not understand the wonderful benefits of the offer and to please reconsider as they outlined the highlights of the offer.
During all of this it kept saying that it was important to push the desired prompt at the end of the description because terminating the call prior to that would automatically lead to an acceptance, and the card would be billed in monthly increments of $29.95 for 12 months, and then auto renewed unless canceled within 5 days of the charge.
I kept saying NO, and it went through FIVE different 'specials'...I felt like it literally kept me hostage once it had my card info.....call lasted 47 MINUTES!!!
Incredibly sleazy, sleazy marketing campaign, the TV stations that are advertising this need to be alerted to their unethical methods and drop them as an advertiser. |
