I have been looking into a cruise since Christmas with my little sister, we are both on a budget and investigated prices for weeks finally deciding carnival.com had the lowest price on the cruise we wanted. This price was for a balcony room at $789 we had found this price by doing a search right on their page, selecting where and when we wanted to go no seniors, no military, no past guests, and put Pennsylvania as my state of residency and thats the cruise that popped up with that price We saved our deposit and went to book the cruise, the price was still $789, still doing the same search from their page. Well on the very last page of booking the price suddenly jumped to $839, I went back double checked that I had made no changes and I hadn't, the price changed on the last page! I called Carnival right away and after about 30 minutes of explaining and emailing the rep Lynn, the link to the page with the misquoted page I was told it was a glitch in the system and they couldn't honor that price, when I asked why I was told the their cruises sell out no matter what and that if I didn't book the room at the higher price that somebody else would. I felt like I was nothing to them. I hung up. I called back after a few minutes had passed and explained my situation to another rep, was put on hold while she spoke with a supervisor and came back to tell me, that rate is for senoirs but if you look at the page there is a box to check on the left side for seniors and it is clearly not checked. If you do check the box the prices change so no they are not the senior rates, she apologized saying there was nothing she could do and we both hung up. I decided to try again the next morning, again explained my situation and what I wanted was the cruise for the price it is listed at on www.carnival.com, I was placed on hold for awhile and was told this time that the rate is for Maryland residents, NO!! if you look at the left side of the page, right under the UNCHECKED SENIOR BOX you will see that it says PENNSYLVANIA!!! I was then transfered to tech support?? Why I have no idea, why do I need to speak to tech support?? Ok so he tells me the same darn thing, that that rate is for Maryland residents but that it just comes up for all states until you book it. That makes absolutely no sense to me and why I even had to enter my state in the search if its giving me prices for Maryland Please see link below so that you can see that cruise listed says Pennsylvania right there on the left, no over 55, no past guest$789.00 BAIT AND SWITCH http://www.carnival.com/BookingEngine/SailingSearch/?dat=052011&embkCode=BWI&numGuests=2&dur=D2&dest=C&StateCode=PA If you go to carnival right now, after I have complained for 2 days it is still listed at $789 I'm tired of the runaround and I feel like I'm being scammed, the price of $789 WAS AND STILL IS ON THEIR WEBPAGE AND IT SHOULD BE HONORED. We really worked hard to save that money
