We reside at fiance's mother's residence. His mother's hot water heter had stopped working and while she is away on business, we were asked to handle geting it repaired. Called Hydromax/Roto Rooter on 12/7 to look at hot water heater Reliance 606 50 gal. Lloyd the repairman arrived on 12/8. His invoice states, "SERVICE TO FLUSH ELECTRIC WATER HEATER 50 GALLON AND REPLACE ELEMENTS. LOWER ELEMENT HAD BROKE OFF CLOSE TO TERMINAL AND SUGGESTED INSTALLING A NEW WATER HEATER IF PROBLEMS ARISE." We noticed we were still not getting any hot water after services. I called the next day only to have an aswering service instruct me to "call back between normal business hours." We've been dealing with complex family issues and other family from out of town. This explains my delay in our complaint. On 12/12, family friend/licensed contractor comes by to look at water heater. Checks heating elements with meter to to find the new elements just installed are bad. Upon removal, he discovers they have shorted out. He states the repairman drained the tank to replace elements, replaced elements, and failed to refill tank before throwing the power back on causing said elements to short out. Since family friend/licensed contractor has fixed our water heater, our water has been hot. This gentleman did this on his own time and for nothing and did it correctly. We have made a number of contacts to Hydromax/Roto Rooter (Nathan and receptionist) to refund our money for not fixing the problem and causing us even more grief and inconvenience. In response, we only recieved rudeness and our request fell on deaf ears. We feel it is wrong for this company to charge $250.00 for services that they have completed incorrectly. The heating elements we purchased were from ACE Hardware (4500 watt 240 volt) costing a mere $15.00 ea. We do not feel we are responsible for labor charges occured during the repairman's visit, for he hadn't actually repaired anything. We would like our money back! |
