Having had much success with ads on Craig's list - saw job ad & applied. I have extensive experience in the music industry (though sadly not of scams) did not initially suspect any fraudulent intentions. 1st December 2010Almost to the letter the circumstances described on scam Report happened. The only difference my email didn't bounce back - I received a reply saying the person from HR was out all week & to apply directly to Hollywood Entertainment Jobs.
Hello, I will be out of the office this week. If you are applying for the current job: Assistant to Producer of Major Syndicated TV Show please apply directly at www.hollywoodentertainmentjobs.com Ashley Briant
HR - Los Angeles Dept The most current jobs on the site were dated 25th November - right there I should have been suspicious - Thanksgiving Day??. The Craig's list ad was posted on 30th November. There was no sign of this job on their site so.... I signed up for the 4 day $1 trial on (which I have since canceled - 2nd Dec). Received from their accounts email address:Welcome to Hollywood Entertainment Jobs!
We are glad that you have chosen us to help you "get your foot in the door".
We wish you the best of luck in your job search. This email serves as confirmation and receipt of your purchase.
ORDER # 429XXXXX
+ 4 Day Trial for $1.00!
- $1.00 Thank you,
Hollywood Entertainment Jobs
In the additional terms it states they will (as detailed on this site) charge you $11.95 after the 4 days.
My concern is the credit card info I gave to their site. . I called my credit card company to put a block on any further charges from them. For both the $1 and potentially $11.95.
I must admit feeling really stupid but gained a valuable insight into how you can ignore your gut feeling something isn't quite right when you are eager to attain employment. Having been fortunate not to fall foul of the many CL scams out there, this is the first & hopefully the last time.
There are some very reputable employment sites out there - this is not one of them.
Thank you scam Report
