Hi-Plains Sunflower Co LLC Bad Company combined with Illegal practices Denver, Colorado |

I was working for a company in Denver, Colorado named Hi-Plains Sunflower Co. The company hauls sunflower seeds to a Con-Agra plant in Fresno, CA on a regular basis. Anyway, the stop in California required you to work at the plant unloading all the empty trailers that drivers would drop in the yard. Sometimes 4-5 trailers. These were dry vans but had to be unloaded with a crane lift as the seeds were pumped in by bulk through a top hatch. These were all Maxed-Out weights that were almost always over weight regulations unless you coasted into town on fumes. Driving through California was a night mare with these loads and the California DOT had our number. Anyway, the company has drivers staying down at the seed plant unloading trailers and hooking up to this crane lift for 12-24 hours sometimes as each load had to be dumped out and took 4-5 hours to finish. The company had us working as yard jockeys, un-loaders, and helpers sometimes spending the night and working the next day and we were paid absolutely zero for this which is illegal. The company also required that all this time spent working at the plant be "Off The Books", which is illegal also, so that the driver could leave and go pick up another load and haul it DIRECTLY back to Denver, Co, regardless of sleep. We had numerous drivers receive "falsification of log books" tickets while working there and ruin their driving records. The company had a crew of about half that were decent employees and half who were whiners who refused to do anything except drive. Ultimately, the decent employees stayed in California and worked for FREE and the whiners went home to their families. Very bad situation for anyone working for this company. Log book ALWAYS had to be forged to get back home legally and believe me, there were always threats when employees complained about not wanting to forge the books. I called the company up one day an told them i'd need to take my required break before I started driving again and their response was "You like getting paid, don't you." Anyway, steer far clear of this company, they operate without respect for the law and will ruin your driving record. I am posting this on scam Report.com as a warning to Business Consumers, Prospective Employees, and because of the large amounts of money I have had to spend working "Off The Books" for this company. |

If this is who i think it might be. yes this is true. i just refused to take an illegal load, that was not legal for california, bridge law, then i was told to clean truck out cause i wont jepordize, My license. And a clean record.
And as far as Davids sunflower unloading trailers is still the same, No compensation for moving trailers, from 0600-whenever the are done unloading trailers still must not be on the books.
Being a hush hush yard jockey.
Falsifing logs is general practice for here. Trucks are set to 67mph, and they want you log at 65mph.
According to the company policy manual.
And they will lie, promised to be compinsated for a load of coca cola, that would not load, suppose to be on the clock. for the wait time. from 1000 hr pst to 1830pst. Nothing was done for this time. Then still deliver load. The 14 hour was up. i think where it goes from there. |
