Human Resources executives Shrestha Taylor, Sean Patrick Sullivan and Keith Thomas of HealthPort violate the rights of employees everyday at HealthPort Technologies.They perform harassing, abusive and demeaning investigations when they want to conjure up a reason to terminate people.
Shrestha Taylor, employee relations manager, is an egomaniac pretending to be humble.No one can have an opinion that differs from hers or she will place you in her cross hairs and attempt to get you fired. Position elimination is her favorite code word for terminating you because you really didn't do anything wrong but she doesn't like you for whatever random slight you committed against her so you have to go because you don't get away with saying stuff about her! She knows human resources only in as much as it allows her to circumvent employee rights when it is convenient for her. Remember that Twilight Zone episode whereseveral adults are kidnapped by a dementedlittleboy with magical powers?The child can turn youinto a strange creature or makeyou disappear. No matter what he says, everyonegoes along with it because if theydon't the childwill turn theminto a pumpkin or a rat or some otherstrange creature. The mood swings are so mercurial that eventually the child eliminates the entire world except forthe few adults that live in this dark house with him. This is the atmosphere atHealthPort. And the little boy is Shrestha Taylor.
Mr. Sullivan, human resources director, is dumber than a bag of bricks.He sits in his office all day typing emails and gets dragged out to be the authority on employee rights in the handbook and Healthport policy when Shrestha needs a white male authority to validate her shenanigans.Mr. Thomas is the leader of this motley crew and serves as the vice president. He does whatever Shrestha tells him to do and thinks that if he smiles enough while he makes enough sexually inappropriate remarks openly in a mixed setting that he can get away with it. The Christmas party at his home this year was just weird because of this.He also thinks this covers his real feelings towards his minions, which is patronizing condescension.Somewhere in his advance from payroll manager to vice president of human resources, he learned to smile and pretend to be concerned about everyone when people complain about Shrestha Taylor and Sean Patrick Sullivan.Overall, this trio creates a very oppressive, anxiety-filled, abusive and corrupt environment for their terrified employees.
Additionally, it creates an environment where good people, ie, people subject to their workplace terrorism, are too afraid to speak out when illegal activity occurs.Specifically, the most openly illegal violation of employee rights is HealthPort's taking of money from former and current commissioned associates.In the summer of 2010, before HealthPort converted most of their copy and scan rep employees from commissioned to hourly associates, each commissioned associate had an hourly rate to achieve. If they went over that target, the managers were instructed to diminish the pay by the overage and only pay the target rate.That's rightan employee could make $30/hr, and if their target rate was $12/hr, they would subtract $18/hr from the pay.Only those employees that were belligerent enough to fight for their pay received the difference back.HealthPort's official policy is don't tell until they ask.There are hundreds of current and former employees who have had pay taken from their checks illegally by HealthPort.
Shrestha Taylor, Sean Patrick Sullivan and Keith Thomas know this.But they would rather spend their time instilling fear in the hearts of their hapless employees rather than support programs that treat their employees humanely.
