Harvest Designs Angela Blake Upholstery scam Houston, Texas
25th of Jun, 2011 by User264504
The lady's name who runs under the business name is called Angela Blake, and I dont even know if that is her real name but she is a scam. It's a tricky scam though. She will quote you and ask you to deliver the materials for the project. She will then send emails stating progress of the project, but constantly delay the due date. She is tricky in the sense that she does not request payment upfront. This keeps her to being charged criminally. However, she will hold on to your stuff, be difficult to contact, and will not return your calls and emails in time to not have you start worrying. She is hoping that people just give in and surrender their items so she can then have proof that it was'given' to her so she can sell it herself. She has a facebook page under HARVEST DESIGNS, and after going to her home with another customer to speak with Angela, we spoke to a neighbor that said she doesnt even know how to upholster, but she lives with some guy who does. She has stated that she was single to one customer, but then had a fake husband call me to make a sympathy call about how his 'wife' is stressed with so many projects. I would not trust her. Once she has upset customers, she deletes them from accessing her fb page so they can't let the word out. There are no reviews online and when you first initially call her about your project, she tries to sound like a nice lady just trying to turn a hobby into a business. I gave her my couch and the material to upholster it (over $200 worth of property) back in early April 2011, but it's now June 26th. She's sent me fake pictures of the couch being done, along with numerious bad promises of it's progress and when it will be done. I've tried to kill her with kindness and I have tried to be understanding, but she takes advantage of that. She's sneaky and knows how the law works. She tries to get people upset enough to just surrender their projects, and that's how she gets away with it.

Educated but not informed is how I would describe the misguided person who wrote this last post. Words are like seed and when not guarded they can do harm. That is the goal of the above post. The problem with the post is that the information is not accurate. I would take the next few minutes to defend what was said but, I am posting this more for the writer of the above post. Often times people fight when there is not battle, and will find any opponent that will fuel their delusion. I am the suggested fake husband that Angela has. I am her brother who spoke to the individual that posted this, never stating that I was her husband. If you were an active listener looking for resolution you would have heard that I live in Dallas, just had a baby and wanted to pay for any inconvenience. I mentioned that I too am a business owner and that like any business owner the customer is the most valuable resource. The point of my call was to bring some peace and closure to an inflamed situation. Selective listening and selective hearing has led to the mischaracterization of good business, and worst a great person. People choose how they
grow, bitter or better. Angela and those who support her are growing better and we pray the same for others.

God Bless

It is Saturday, July 23, 2011. I have received my couch. Several hours after this posting, as well as standing 40 minutes outside the home after she had stated to another customer that they (and I) can come by the house to look/pick-up at our furniture, she came outside. The other customer took her chair and half-finished ottoman, at no cost because of the troubles that occurred. It was not even Angela that offered. It was my suggestion to the two negotiating parties, and they agreed to it. I then saw my couch, and it looked beautiful...but not finished. I then offered to pay the full $300 since the couch was in a beautiful work of progress. This was after about a month ago Angela did offer to go down $50 due to the delays, as well as promised to deliver the couch). I then set the new due date for July 22, 2011 (she agreed and seemed grateful)...which gave her exactly 1 month. The due date was decided about 1-2 weeks prior to this evening of the posting. It was July 22 (yesterday), and I finally received my couch, minus a cushion that still had not been finished since April. She stated it would take a couple of hours, and she'd have it that evening. The evening passed and she called to push the day back, again. I finally got my last couch cushion...after 3 months or so...and trips to her house with police...and several broken promises. The couch is beautiful. But I would have paid way more to go through someone much more professional and less scary in regards to feeling like I was scammed. I paid her $300, but donated $50 to the Habitat of Humanity on her behalf. That way I still paid the full amount, but even after several 'level-headed conversations', break throughs, and even a month extension after the cop ordeal...the July 22 deadline was not met. A deadline is a deadline, and if that is not understood, then this person should not be in the service industry. I give her my best wishes, but the loops I had to go through to work with this business was not worth it and very stressful. I would not doubt if she still tries to sue me for this posting, because she has implied doing so already. For those that chose to do business with Harvest Designs, good luck to you. She does a beautiful job, but the drama and charades is not worth it in my opinion.
