Harbor Place Port St Lucie Florida Century Park Associates My Nighmare Experience with Harbor Place Assisted Living Port St Lucie, Florida |

I needed to find an assisted living facility for my 84 yr old mother. I went to Harbor Place in Port St. Lucie which is owned by Century Park Assoc. of Chatanooga, Tn.
I told the admissions person "Beth" that I had to get my mother in within 2 wks as her caregivers were leaving her and she is immobile. She assusred me she could have a room by the date needed. She asked me to have her doctor fax some forms and asked for a $1000 non-refundable deposit. I did so and then I was called and told that there was some erroneous information on the forms. They told me that the nurse "Jamie" would see her and do an evaluation. I then made the 150 mile round trip with my mother to the facility, Jamie showed her around and then told me that she could see nothing wrong with my mother that would deter her entering the facility, but she would have to get an ok from her superiors.
That was the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Of course I heard nothing Thanksgiving day, or the Friday after, or Saturday or Sunday. I then took my mother to another doctor for an evaluation and the doctor filled out the papers. The evaluation said that in the doctors opinion my mother was a perfect canidate for an assisted living facility and she saw no reason why she shouldn't be in one. Monday morning at 9:00 I was at the facility with the papers. I saw "Jamie" and gave her the papers. I reiterated to her that time was of the essence as I had to get my mother in by that thursday, and if her answer was negative then I would have to move foward on other options. Jamie told me she would have an answer by 12:00 and would call me. I verified that she had my phone number. 12:00 came and went, no call. Finally I called at 12:00 and got the receptionist, was transfewrred to Jamies' extension but she did not answer. I then called "Beth" on her cell who told me she would call me right back. She didn't. I then called Beth again at 1:00 who told me she was working on it and would call me back. No call. I then called for Jamiie and got her at 1:30. I said "well, what is the verdict?" She said "I'm in a meeting and will call you back" and hung up on me. I never received a call from anyone since. I don't understand why they would make someone transport an 84 year old frail lady that distance knowing that they were not going to accept her. Is this a professional way for an Assisted Living facility to conduct themselves? What if my mother was in there and there was an emergency? I still have not received my $1000 refund of deposit. In the interrim
I found another facility just as nice and the cost is appx 35% less. I would advised anyone looking for a facility for their parents to stay far awya from Harbor Place in
