Well Guru here is another report to be added.
I hired this person from India which now I no was a big mistake. Her name was Shrey Pathania. This was just a simple design for only 120.00. I gave her half the money down like she wanted. I asked and asked when this design would be done. She kept on giving me nothing but excuses. Well I figured that I would now take it to a dispute. Which I did. Now remember people I login everyday. I logged in and found out that she was awarded half of the money due to the fact that I didn't respond.
What Guru will not tell you is that they never gave me the the option to respond. So basically in a nut shell you can become a designer or whatever and take on a bid, ask for the half the money upfront get it and spend it. When you dispute it don't worry Guru knows that they can't get it back from overseas so they awarded her half. Ok so I lost $60.00. H*ll I should have just sent the money down to India just for the h*ll of it.
So to the people that read this. Take my advise. If you need to hire a person. Hire the person in your own city. This way you know where the person is. Thus you can take them to a court of law. When hiring abroad with guru you will never see your money unless you fly to the country and chase that person down.
Here is the kicker. I wasn't even aloud to rate this person. Guru wouldn't even let me rate this person.
Don't get Scammed by Guru. If enough of us people report Guru then they will find themselves out of business.

Or how about you award the project to someone from America instead> You hired someone from India because she said she'd do it for pennies on the dollar. If you're too cheap to pay decent wages, then you deserve what you get.
Sincerely,
An American Guru.com Professional |

No offense but I have used Guru.com for several years, as a worker. The truth is that 80%+ of the time, any business you do through Guru.com is legitimate but most of it is low paying if you live in the Western world, some of it, so low as to be legitimately called 'exploitative'. That being said, I went from being an amateur writer to being one who found many contracts and has been paid by satisfied customer/client/employers many times. You may go look at my profile to see what I mean.
Have I ever been ripped off by being a Guru.com freelancer? Aside from the low wages, yes, but of all the contracts I have done only 1 or 2 ripped me off and another 3 had misunderstandings with me.
In my own experience, Guru.com is not a scam, but it does have limitations. For example, most of the workers who use it are not able to get enough work or pay to earn a living, even though the system gives the impression that workers will be able to provide for themselves using Guru.com. A few do, but the vast majority do not. |

Guru.com is a scam site, I was scammed two times, the last day, scammers say it: As share of our secure transaction process, Guru.com audited all PayPal transactions. As a result of this process, Invoice ID ******* (****** $) is? on hold pending verification from the Employer.
I suggest you elance.com or odesk.com, I'm already a worker at elance and oDesk, Guru, but I wanted to try, but both work I didI have been scammed |
