For 8 years, I have had to put up with GreenPoint Credit,on the purchase of a mobile home in Missouri. A mistake I regret and will for the rest of my life. I fell behind on my payments, being single 3 kids to raise, and no help from their Dad. Anyway, GreenPoint was ruthless in there telephone calls, not only at home but at my place of employment. One day as I was out of the office collecting the mail for my employer GreenPoint called, my employers wife answered the phone, while I was out, and she informed them that I was not in. Sherri Klaus who worked for GreenPoint got instantly angry and called my employers wife a F***ing liar, then hung up. My employer was furious, because he had been standing next to his wife, and over heard the conversation. He instantly dialed star 69 to see who the caller was. It went to GreenPoint Credit. I came so close to losing my job. I informed GreenPoint what had happened but that did not stop the harrassing phone calls. They still continued to call my place of employment. Not only did they do this but they also would harrass my children at home, yelling at them and threating to throw them out in the street. One day when they called my younges answered the phone and Scott informed her that he was coming to her house. She was only 12 at the time, she was in a panic, because it was a strange man. Again I wrote to GreenPoint Credit in California. Then they called my mother, who is not a co-signer, her name is only listed as a reference. They called her threatening her, that if she didn't make my payment now over the phone that her grandchildren would be sleeping in the streets by night fall. She of course was upset, she's 75 years old and on social security. It doesn't end there, as time goes by I tried to keep my payments up, but I got behind again, and so I talked with Courtland Bay from GreenPoint Credit, he suggested I send them 2 post dated checks and he would deposit them on the date of the check. So I did that, the checks were not cashed on the dates, so GreenPoint's Attorney send me a forclosure packet, that they were going to repossess the mobile home. I immediately faxed the Attorney in St. Louis that Courtland Bay, was holding 2 checks and that they had not been cashed yet. As time went by I set up a Auto withdraw from my checking account for GreenPoint Credit, wouldn't you know it the first payment and things go wrong, as soon as I found out I called GreenPoint Credit and spoke with Deerdra Marsdon, I explained that I was at my bank and that the auto withdraw did not go through as planned. She told me not to worry about it that the computer shows it went through, I told her it had not, that I was at my bank, and it didn't go through, and should I send her a money order or a cashier check for the amount of the payment. She told me know that everything was ok. Wrong! I waited a week thinking they would find the mistake and try to take the payment out of my acount, didn't happen. So again I called GreenPoint Credit, to tell them it didn't go through, Deerdra, again said that their computer shows everything ok and that my next payment wasn't due until Nov. Again I offered to send a money order or cashiers check, she said not to do that, that everything was ok, and if I did it would mess up the payment system. So I waited until the end of the month, again it still hadn't gone through, once again I called form my bank, talked to Deerdra and she laughed at me, told me to stop worrying, that the payment went through. It hadn't. It took them a month and a half to realize I was telling the truth, and 3 rejections for cash. Then they wanted me to send in my payment, I said sorry, you said it was there. So for almost 2 years it showed me past due 1 month. As it has turned out, I had to move to Colorado to be here for my mother, I tried desperately to sell the mobile home before I moved and the payments were current up to July this year, because I couldn't find a job right away, I signed the mobile home back to GreenPoint Credit thinking this was better then foreclosure. Well they sold the mobile for 6500 dollars and still want me to pay 21,000 dollars. It's a mess. When I added up my payments for the last 8 years, I figure I have paid them 32,000 dollars on a the mobile, the purchase price was 28,000, plus they got 6500 in the sale. Grant you I have been nieve, but surely there should be a credit rating for Companies like this. To fight for our rights, people should not be treated like this, no matter what there circumstances might be. If I couldn't make the payment then foreclose, and take it away, don't treat me like a dirty dog. Don't make me feel worse than I already feel, or demean my children and threaten people. So consumers beware of GreenPoint Credit in Missouri, they are horrible. Edna Canon City, Colorado U.S.A. |
