Andrew Wang is the food director of two catering companies operating under the names: Grace Catering and Hotel Banquet. (www.gracecatering.com, www.hotelbanquet.com) I hired him for catering for our wedding which was a few weeks ago. The food tasting was great, everything seemed legitimate until 1 week before our wedding. He quoted me for a total invoice price which included all taxes, service charges, delivery, etc. I had already paid a $5000 deposit 1 month prior to my wedding. A balance of $10,000 was due 7 days before my wedding. He called me asking me to try to pay him $6000 cash and $4000 check, I assume he was trying to skip out on paying taxes. But I wrote him 2 company checks of $5,000 each. I drove 1 hour to his restaurant and gave him the checks, he accepted it and said everything was fine. I left his shop and 10 minutes later he calls me and says that he needs me to pay an addition $460 for taxes, which was NOT in the invoice, since I had paid the balance already. He said that since I didn't pay cash he had to charge me more. Fine, since our wedding was in 7 days I told him I would come back tomorrow with as much cash as I can. But he claimed that he deposited the checks already and that I HAD TO PAY THE ADDITIONAL $460 (don't know where he came up with that) our else he will just keep the $15,000 I paid in total for the catering and NOT SERVE US FOOD ON THE DAY OF OUR WEDDING. WIth our wedding being 7 days away and 200 guests to satisfy, I had to agree to him. But on the day of the wedding, the FOOD SERVED WAS NOTHING LIKE THE FOOD TASTING. In the food tastings earlier, he really served SHARKS FIN in sharks fin soup, but on the day of the wedding, the proportions shrunk by up to 80% each DISH. DO NOT LET HIM RUIN YOUR WEDDING OR OTHER EVENTS BY HIRING HIM TO DO YOUR CATERING. He uses thuggish methods to force customers to pay more because he knows that he caters to important events and customers like me can't afford to have anything go wrong on those big days.
