Public Information regarding Goldendoodle World and owners, Dee & Mike Gerrish: The AKC's Management Disciplinary Committee has suspended the following individuals from all AKC privileges for a period of two years, effective July 8, 2002 and imposed a $2000 fine each for having refused to permit an inspection of records and practices, as provided by Chapter 4, Section 7 of the Rules Applying to Registration and Discipline: Diane Gerrish (Cleveland, NC) - Multiple Breeds Link: Diane Gerrish's complaint about the AKC: "After withdrawing from their kennel club, they actually had the audacity to send a representative to my home some years later asking me to allow the representative to look over my records and gather DNA from my dogs. I told the representative that my dogs were already registered with a different kennel club and they could take themselves back to their office in Raligh, NC and go be the "registrant service" they claimed to be when I needed their assistance back in the late 90s. I was no longer a member of AKC, nor were my dogs and as far as I was concerned, they had no right asking me for anything. They had not come to my home asking me for records regarding the Toy Poodle or DNA evidence and that is what I had thought they were asking for. Now had he asked me for this, I would have complied. But they were not at my home regarding the Toy Poodle. I had not registered a single litter with AKC after pulling my dogs out of their club, so of course I was very angry that they had the nerve to make any requests from me since they were unwilling to assist me with the woman in Georgia. I even told the American Kennel Club that now there was an entire litter of Toy Poodles out there with incorrect AKC documentation and if THOSE dogs breed with other dogs, their entire lineage of information is a lie! If they did this with me, just how many other dogs in their kennel club actually might be improperly registered with improper lineage information? I was reeling with anger at AKC over their lack of integrity. AKC makes millions of dollars each year from purebred fanatics who believe that this kennel club is about more than making money. Get a reality check. AKC is a business. It's a multi million dollar empire that makes money off the backs of dogs and those who love them. If a dog is popular enough, you can bet your sweet dollar, they will eventually add it to their registry or at least try to. Many private breed clubs do not allow AKC to register their dogs. They keep their breeds private and their clubs are breed specific. We have written about this fact for many years. **About the author: "Dee Gerrish founded Goldendoodle World in 1999, but she was a private, professional hobby breeder beginning in 1996 with purebred Golden Retrievers. Dee has written extensively about the Goldendoodle dog since 1999. It came to our attention in September of 2008 that someone had been copying Dee's articles...taking her words out of context, twisting them around in a sarcastic manner and then reposting the articles under her name as though she had written the articles or blogs. ** Please know that Dee does not write sarcastic type of blogs or articles.** Her articles and blogs are meant for educational purposes regarding the Goldendoodle dog and she completely loves writing about her dogs to share her knowledge with others in a very positive way. Dee is aware of the malicious attacks that has taken place on her blogs and articles. Dee has joined up with twitter, twitwall and twitpic. Dee has a wide variety of interests and some of those interests are regarding paranormal experiences, sharing ghost stories, photos and captured EVPs." **Contradiction of statement** found here: Goldendoodle World is also known as: Lake Ridge Kennels and D&M Kennels. "D&M" stands for: "Dee & Mike". Link: Diane Gerrish posted: " "STOP THE CRUELTY AND NEGLECT BEFORE IT BEGINS!! If you can no longer care for your rottweiler and wish to find him or her a loving home to retire in, we offer a one acre site with fencing and individual chain link pens. All our dogs are loved and unwanted pups are found homes that are scutinized for suitable care, or kept here on our premises. We are located in the North Carolina area. Private donations for food is always welcome. We are very big on animal rights and do what we can to prevent animal cruelty, neglect, abuse and torture to these loving dogs." Contact: Diane Gerrish Cleveland, NC 704-278-0403 [email protected] Dee Gerrish posts another complaint about the AKC after being fined by them: "After I became very disappointed with the American Kennel Club, I sent UKCI copies of all of my dogs’ AKC registration documents, including copies of their AKC pedigrees and made UKCI the sole registrant service for my dogs. The American Kennel Club permitted a dog breeder in Georgia to register a purebred Toy Poodle litter that belonged to one of my stud dogs, to register the litter using HER male dog’s name as the father when the facts supported my stud dog as being the father. I had sold my female Toy Poodle not knowing she had been impregnated by one of my Toy Poodle stud dogs. The American Kennel Club sat back and claimed they were nothing more than a “registrant” service and could not assist me in the matter after I contacted them and filed a grievance about this issue. It was because I discovered AKC was nothing but a liar and a disgrace as a kennel club, that I removed my dogs from their “registrant service” and vowed to let people know what a fraud AKC really was and continues to be through an article. This kennel club, AKC, laughs itself all the way to the damned bank. Believe it or not, the majority of puppies inside of pet stores are registered with the AMERICAN KENNEL CLUB...the supposed GOD of all Kennel Clubs who has "nothing but responsible" breeders registered with them!!! Hmm! Yeah, right!" Dee Gerrish posted this statement: "Yes. I am a “Goldendoodle Specialist”. Link: Dee Gerrish posted this statement: " People in other nations such as China, Thailand, Vietnam and other Asian countries take pride in their dogs because they consume them as a meal. The manner in which they are slaughtered is completely outrageous! The beliefs are that if the dog is beaten, boiled alive, burned alive or hanged, they will release their adrenaline which supposedly makes their meat tender and the myth goes that the meat boosts a man's virility. Of course there is no scientific evidence of such and this abuse is outrageous! South Koreans consume over 1 million dogs a year." Dee Gerrish posted this comment: (she was accused of surrendering her older dogs to a local animal shelter) "As time goes by, our dogs do age or we no longer want to continue breeding a specific breed or specific dog. Many of our dogs are spayed and neutered "senior" dogs. Every year, as our dogs age and we remove dogs from our breeding program, they are spayed or neutered. Although we advertise these dogs to approved, adoptive homes.....the fact remains that those who call us only want puppies or they want dogs who have not been altered so they can "breed" them. Sadly, senior or dogs ranging from 4-6 years of age, have difficulty being placed into adoptive homes because of the lack of quality homes being available to them." Every year in the United States, between four and six million companion animals end up in animal shelters. Many of these animals are euthanized. Animal activists and those who are holier than thou want to blame breeders for this problem." Dee Gerrish posted this statement: "*Bones: NEVER FEED YOUR DOG CHICKEN BONES! These bones are brittle and have sharp edges. Chicken bones can cause damage to your dog's intestines and throat. They can also stick in your dog's throat causing choking which can lead to death. Bones of any kind can also crack your dog's teeth. (dogs can be fed raw chicken bones but Dee Gerrish does not state that here). Dee Gerrish posted this comment: "I personally believe that you SHOULD NOT purchase a dog based on the testing its parents had from the breeder. You are holding on to a false security blanket if you believe that because a breeder had your puppy's parents tested for every ailment known to man (and dog) that your puppy will NEVER DIE OF ANY AILMENT, ILLNESS OR Disease or come down with any genetic ailment. Well, chances are your dog could get ran over by a car and NOT die of any ailment, illness or disease......There are no guarantees in life!" Dee Gerrish posted this comment: "Many people play the "What kind of Dogs do you have?" game with a breeder and personally, I find this very aggravating." Dee Gerrish posted this statement: "I remember years ago when I was first interviewed by a writer about the Goldendoodle dog and shedding/allergy issues and the fact that the writer misquoted me just a bit in the article that was featured on WebMD. As it turns out, my second interview with another writer, Vera Lawlor, continues the problem with being misquoted. I am sure it is not easy to remember everthing someone says during an interview, but that's what a tape recorder is for." Dee posted this comment in the same blog as above: "ANOTHER REASON WE DON'T BELIEVE IN THE HIP TESTING CRAP THAT SO MANY PEOPLE FALL FOR." Link: After being accused of over breeding her dogs, Dee Gerrish posted this: "My dogs are aging and they are NOT being replaced with new ones." (Goldendoodle World continues to sell puppies as of this writing, March 19, 2011). Dee Gerrish posted this statement: "Why do people lie? Why do some people seem to NOT be able to tell the truth even when the truth is clearly obvious or evident? What makes a person tell lies instead of the truth?" Link: (Dee Gerrish was accused of lying and scamming customers). Found on Dee Gerrish's Twitter account: Dee Gerrish | (is deegerrish on Twitter) "Shield yourself with honesty" (Dee Gerrish's 'motto'). Dee posted this statement: (Blogs on Blogspot.com posted by Dee Gerrish alleges to her recent concerns about her mother. The statement below contradicts her blogs). "I already knew I was set up for failure by my mother's negative comments that ate at me day in and day out. When she made the comments, she probably didn't think the comments were serious. Maybe she was just letting off steam. Maybe as a mother, she was just frustrated. Her comments hurt me deeply and they affected my life. It also didn't help that my father was a raging alcoholic who caused deep stress and mistrust with men because he physically and mentally abused my mother for years. Being a witness to my mother being a battered woman day in and day out, affected me for years, on an emotional level. In my case, my mother always told me as a youngster... "You will never amount to anything! You will always be a failure". What a terrible thing to say to a child. My mother said this so many times to me, that I actually believed it. The belief that I would never amount to anything caused problems for me in school. I carried my mother's comments with me into adulthood. Anything I did as an adult, it was never good enough. Or so I felt inwardly. This caused me to become a perfectionist as a young adult. It caused me to always look for faults in others. The man I had passed was so full of positive energy that it literally radiated OFF of him and into my own soul. The soul without the holy spirit can go in any direction: it can love but be unfaithful; it can work but be misdirected; it can belong, but wrongly. The holy spirit anchors your soul. The unanchored soul seeks harbor elsewhere: in money, sex, drugs, alcohol, fame, greed and power. Being filled with the holy spirit is the only safe harbor. The holy spirit guides your soul, energizes it, contains it, but more importantly, the holy spirit always takes you to the path of inner salvation. I am by no means, a religious person. I do not believe there is one single god in existence. I believe that I have always had "guides" working with me, helping me and showing me the path to spiritual enlightenment." Link: Dee Gerrish made this comment after being accused of selling Parvo-stricken puppies: "Changing the way we worked as a breeder made all the difference in the world even though we had lots of potential consumers NOT happy with our change of policy. We did NOT realize until 2004 that the brand we had been using was NOT affective at all in protecting our Goldendoodles from parvo and distemper! We discovered that by NOT allowing the general public to enter our premises unless they made a financial commitment to a puppy (this stopped all the breeder hopping. Unless more breeders become vigilante about incorporating a strict policy to put a stop to those who “breeder hop” handling multiple puppies in a single day and place their puppies and dog in a vaccination program, more and more puppies will become infected with parvo." Link: Dee Gerrish posted this statement after reading complaints about her: "The naysayers will have a big smoke screen posted to disrupt your ability in finding the right breeder; purebred or other dog fanatics will give you a huge schpeel as to why you shouldn’t buy instead of adopt from a rescue or shelter; Competing breeders will sway you in their own direction and away from their competition by posting “poor reviews” about their competition and people with a vindictive ulterior motive will attempt to sway you away from “targeted” breeders by posting fabricated comments, stories or reviews that are merely meant to disrupt service of the targeted breeder. People who do this have a spiteful reason that actually has nothing at all to do with helping you one way or the other. There are forums that are irresponsible, that go improperly moderated and allow this type of nonsense to occur. Forums are not a good place to make a decision as to whom you will purchase a dog from. Most often than not, forums are full of speculated rumors by naysayers who have an ulterior, vindictive motive. Many of our customers connect with us through social networking sites. I do consider myself a Goldendoodle expert. all of Dee’s Goldendoodles have an AKC pedigree that dates back to the early 1930s. I let AKC know that I withdrew from them as a member and was severing ties with their kennel club because I could no longer trust them. I especially did not want to be involved with a kennel club who would knowingly allow a breeder to file falsified pedigree/litter registration documents and then not even want to assist a kennel club member with something this important. As far as I was concerned, I was done with trusting AKC. So I will tell anyone to be careful when it comes to the American Kennel Club. Their club is about money and that is all. Kennel clubs are suppose to take care of their members and help breeders who are affiliated with them, when needed. How can AKC even claim they are professional if they allow breeders to register dogs with false pedigrees? I further find it very interesting when people call me and ask me if I did this or that test for my breeding dogs and here they are as parents and never took into consideration one time about having themselves tested prior to having children. Aren’t children more important than dogs? Don’t children live longer? I’ve never quite understood the hypocrisy. Kids certainly cost entirely more than dogs, to raise. I would think that if worrying about genetic diseases was a priority for me, I would pay to have myself and my spouse tested before becoming pregnant before I’d worry about whether a breeder tested the parents of a puppy I was considering buying. Having children that might never make it as an adult due to debilitating genetic health problems is far more important. I also had written an article discussing this very issue, so I am not going to harp on this subject here." Dee Gerrish writes an article on emotional abuse: "Emotional abuse is more than just name calling, insults, or verbal jabs at another person. Whether intentional or not, emotional abuse includes any incident which degrades, humiliates, threatens, isolates or controls another person. It may also include a pattern of other abuses such as insults, criticisms, emotional manipulation, blame, neglect, aggressive demands or expectations, harassment, terrorizing as well as ignoring. Some people use emotional abuse as a means of cutting someone down to the core...attacking their very being. Emotionally abusive people attack the very self image and confidence of their intended victim. It is very difficult for the abuser to recognize they have a problem. Emotional abuse is difficult to define, unlike physical abuse. Most emotional abusers see themselves as being unworthy of love. Perhaps they, themselves were abused as children. People who suffer from a lack of inner connectiveness to their true emotional selves lack the ability to have empathy for others. They lack compassion. They lack the ability to properly communicate with others their true feelings." Link: Dee Gerrish posted a 'montage' of herself. (this ‘montage’ does not appear to have a copyright attached to it.) All I can say is Buyer Beware just like any thing else in life. Take the dog to your own vet. and keep in mind dogs get sick just like humans can. Yes, but you may have gotten lucky. Diane Gerrish threatened me over the phone, sent harassing e-mails, and accused me of being "insane" and "on drugs". She's like the female version of Dr.Jekyll/Mr.Hyde. I wanted to buy a puppy from her, but found a better deal, and decided not to buy from her. That's why she started harassing me. Anybody who tries to tell the truth is called an "Estranged relative trying to ruin her business." Reggiethebull wrote:(located on same website) "I read several articles about Dee and Michael Gerrish operating and running Puppy Patch. Are people so stupid that they would actually purchase an animal from these people? Do you think Lake Ridge Kennels is affiliated with Sixth Day Ranch? I bought my Dog "Reggie" the English Bulldog from the puppy patch back in 2004. We love Reggie like one of the family but anyone who is thinking of buying a dog from the PUPPY PATCH should hear this. First, when we bought Reggie he had an undescended testicle: No problem, the PUPPY PATCH disclosed it and since we were going to have him neutered we didn't care. But then came the other problems: Demodex (skin mites dog loses his hair and get a red crusty rash) that happened repeatedly, 2 blown ACL surgeries $5000, A screw tail approx.$2000, Glucoma resulting in blindness and surgery $2000 and meds approx $400 a month to prevent him from going blind prior to losing the eye. All total the PUPPY PATCH had us shell out about $20,000 for one of their top notch animals. And the guarantee is bogus because the PUPPY PATCH will guarantee the animal for one year against congenital/hereditary diseases up to the purchase price of the animal ($800 max. for bulldogs.) Thats great! Most of this happened after the year was up (takes a while for bad genes to rear their ugly heads)and $800 won't even pay for his surgery to remove his tail because all the skin on his ass kept falling off from infections because you people decided that animals should be cranked out like Big Macs! There is a very special place in Hell for all of you people who sell these animals! I wish you and your loved ones would pick up a nasty bug from one of your sick dogs, maybe have to be hospitallized, and see how great cheaping out and buying mill dogs really is!" Author unknown: "The owner/operators of Lake Ridge Kennels in Cleveland, NC is Dee and Michael Gerrish and their 'specialty' are Goldendoodles. These people have been accused of being back yard breeders and operators of a puppy mill but Dee vehemently denies it.(of course). Recently, the owners/operators of Sixth Day Ranch in Marathon, Fl. were busted for abandoning a warehouse full of Goldendoodles including seven pregnant doodles. Total dogs and pups rescued were about 46-48. The Jones's were not arrested or charged because once caught, they relinquished all rights to the dogs to the authorities and fled the area. Lake Ridge Kennels 'mirrors' Sixth Day Ranch in every way, shape and form from selling puppies exclusively over the Internet, shipping puppies via the airlines, refusing anyone to see the kennels, refusing anyone to see the parents of the puppies, refusing to allow ANYONE on their property, delivering the puppies themselves away from their property, selling sick puppies to unsuspecting customers and demanding full payment before a puppy is even picked out by a customer! Lake Ridge Kennels goes several steps further than the owners of Sixth Day Ranch. Dee Gerrish has recently posted a doggie 'AMBER ALERT' on Buzznet.com , Blogspot.com and on her profile on MySpace.(She calls herself: simply deedee and/or hellodeedee. Her newest scam is contacting her former customers and demand that they return the dog or puppy BACK to her so she can resell it! I kid you not. Her latest blog on MySpace rambles on about how she and her husband tracked down a former customer and after a lot of hassle, got the dog back. Dee claims that the dog was "adopted" from her. Dee does NOT run a rescue. She SELLS puppies and dogs and for a hefty price. Not only does she admit to reclaiming this dog from a customer in Virginia, Dee demanded that her OWN SISTER "cough up" the dog that Dee had sold to her and her husband over a year ago! Her sister paid Dee for the dog, a contract was signed and they all went on about their lives. Dee deposited the money in her bank as fast as she could and the dog went home with it's new owners. The dog apparently didn't work out because the dog was a year old and had been kept confined in a small cage on Dee's property for an entire year and the dog needless to say, had many issues. The dog did not know how to walk on a leash, had never been socialized with humans or other animals and it was so afraid of humans that it hid under a bed and stayed there. Dee's sister had three cats and the dog was afraid of them too. Dee's sister and husband decided to give the dog to some good friends they know from church and the people were delighted to have the dog. After taking the dog to their vet, it was discovered that the dog was severely underweight and had a deformed spine from being confined in a small cage all it's life. The dog also desperately needed to learn some social skills and needed to be trained. When Dee learned that the dog had been re-homed, she went absolutely insane. Dee started posting horrific, nasty, accusatory blogs all over the Internet about her sister and when she didn't get a reaction from her sister, Dee started making unwelcome calls to her sister's home. Dee demanded to know where the dog was. Dee demanded that her sister give her the new owner's name, address and phone number AND the name, phone number and address of the animal clinic. When her sister unplugged her phone, Dee emailed her sister's husband and threatened to send her husband to their front door to get that dog. Dee's sister notified the authorities. Because Dee wasn't getting anywhere with her empty threats, Dee posted the doggie 'amber alert' on the afore mentioned websites. Not only is this insane, where does Dee get off demanding all of her former customer's dogs back that she sold to them? My question is, even if Dee COULD get all the dogs back, is she going to resell them? Talk about being greedy and crazy! Dee's husband Michael surrendered TEN of their own dogs to their local animal shelter last year to make room for dogs that could breed and pump out more puppies for them to sell over the Internet. I wonder if Dee is tracking down the owners of those ten dogs in attempts to get them back so she can sell them? I tell you, I have never heard of a business owner selling something fair and square then demanding the buyer to return it. Dee Gerrish and her back yard dog breeding business needs to be shut down just like Sixth Day Ranch. I find it interesting that BOTH breeders sell Goldendoodles over the Internet. Well, the Jones's don't sell them any longer but they did for years. If anyone wants to see just how nutso Dee Gerrish really is, just read some of the garbage she posted on the Internet. She has several complaints against her on Ripoff Report.com and you will see her rebuttal. Just read her amber alert on MySpace and Buzznet and Blogspot to get an idea of how loony this woman is. If anyone buys a puppy from these people after reading all of her trash, I feel sorry for you." |
