In December of 2010 I spoke with an employee at Gold's Gym in Arlington, Texas about becoming a member. During that same month, I signed my contract and forked over $250.00 for my 15 month contract with the facility. Everything was going fine until several weeks later I drove to the facility for a daily workout and realized that Gold's Gym was completely shut down. I received absolutely no phone calls, emails, or any kind of notification of the situation for several weeks and was unaware of what I should do. I continued to drive up there occasionally for the purpose of finding out information and soon after saw a phone number associated with ABC Financial taped on the door. I called them to get a glimpse of what was going on and they notified me that Gold's Gym had closed because the owner and the landlord could not come to an agreement and that my membership had been transferred to a gym located in Mansfield, Texas. This gym went by the name of Utopia and was located in a run down strip shop and was completely inadequate in comparison to the equipment provided at Gold's Gym. In short, I had not paid $250.00 to attend this gym facility and was irritated with how inconsiderate I was being treated by such a large franchise [Gold's Gym]. I have been trying now incessantly to reach Gold's Gym corporate offices now for several months, and in return have nothing to show for it. I have sent numerous letters on their site [www.goldsgym.com] and have tried to even reach them through their facebook page. I've noticed that even on facebook they have no problem getting back with people unassociated with scandalous situations such as my own; and have yet to hear even one word from them in regards to my problem. I have been completely civil and know that in my contract it reads that if I move more than 25 miles from my gym, that I am able to receive a refund of the time left on my contract. I'm sure that in this situation I am entitled to a refund even without my contract being involved in that mannerism, but am certain that with my contract involved, Gold's Gym is obviously violating it's terms. I also wish I could say I was the only one caught up in the misfortune but I sadly can account to reading about copious situations associated with not only Gold's Gym in Arlington but others as well. I'm surprised that Gold's Gym is not already in deep waters due to misconduct. These two websites {http://www.yelp.com/user_details?userid=uQ8tgpCdCM7QSsjJmglX1w, http://local.yahoo.com/info-18835539-gold-s-gym-arlington;_ylt=AuvNbBxGNDZqT2N8wtAJCtuKNcIF;_ylv=3?tab=reviews&from=1#reviews} have provided me with quite a bit of insight into how Gold's Gym works. I hope that this company can pay the consequences for it's malfeasance, and in turn I am just hoping to receive compensation. Thank you. |
