Gold's Gym
Gold's Gym Liars! False Advertising! Phoenix, Arizona
28th of Dec, 2010 by User350228
I prepaid for a 6 month membership to the Gold's Gym at 5031 East Elliot. When I talked to the training manager Mike, I told him my primary reason for joining this club was so that I could take fitness CLASSES close to home.I already have a membership to 24 Hour Fitness but it is about 8 miles away.Mike assured me that my membership would include UNLIMITED classes and he gave me a schedule of the classes they currently had each week. About 2 weeks after I prepaid for 6 months, I received an email from Gold's Gym stating that ALL classes were cancelled INDEFINITELY.I called right away and spoke to the general manager Justin who told me "too bad, you only had 3 days in whick to cancel. We don't promise classes and we can cancel them at any time."

Today, I received another flyer in the mail from this Gold's Gym and it clearly states that my membership would include Group Exercise classes, spinning classes and yoga/pilates classes.

All I want is my money back for FIVE of the SIX months.I do not need another gym membership if it is only going to allow me to use the cardio machines and not provide any group exercise classes.

Golds Gym is very sneaky, I would honestly file a complaint with the better business bureau. I use to work for golds gym. Here is what i recommend.

1. Check and see if the golds gym is a franchise or a corporate owed gym
if its a corporate own gym you can contact corporate headquarters and get a refund for the 5 months.

2. If its a franchise, go back to the contract that you originally signed, read the entire contract every little thing you signed there's a front and a back. If there is anything about classes, read that part carefully. If they did not mention anything that says " we reserve the right to cancel or suspend classes at any time" or anything a long those words, then they HAVE TO REFUND YOU.

3. If all else fails see if you can transfer the membership to someone else, fam, friend etc golds gym almost always lets you do that. OR you can sometimes transfer the membership to ANOTHER golds gym that does have classes! *** providing its a corporate owned gym)

hope this helps
