The Maricopa Global Water Company is changing their billing dates up to eight days early.Thats if they even send you a bill in the mail at all. How are these Better Business Practices?Consumers of this utilitiesusually pay their bills weekly, bi-weekly or monthly. And what government agency'sare over looking these late charge scams to the consumers?
When my family andI first moved to the city of Maricopa the problems that we occurred were that the Global Water company was not sending us our bill in the mail. When we contacted them, they said that it must be lost in the mail; however, we heard thisfour times before we started to receive our bill in the mail. We were also told that it wasour fault for the bill being late and that we would be charged a late fee. We were only calling to ask if they could send us or bill because we had not received it yet and did not know how much to pay. I guess blaming the US post office is ok if their late. Also, When we asked for a receipt for our files it some how made it to our house by US post office.
My latest concern for my self and other consumerswho just want to accurately pay their billsis this: if you pay your bills weekly, bi-weekly or monthly and you usually have certain bills that you pay with each pay check. How are you going to pay for a bill that comes over a week early with out getting a late charge added to your bill? Well, if your lucky and get paid the day that your billhas been change to and get home from work before they close their office, you can call 520-568-4452 and pay your bill over the phone. And yes,if you use a Debt or credit card, you will have to pay a small service chargefor thattoo.
In short, beware of Global Waters late fee scams or regulation loop holds. They say knowing is half the battle. I hope this will help other to not get caught by this scam and that our Government Agency's with local regulatory boards will do a better job in protecting the consumers from theseBad Business Practices.
