I was looking for a receptionist job on craigslist and saw a posting ad for one in the area in which I live. I responded to the ad and recieved an email from the company to get started with an interview thru via yahoo messenger. I did all this, and the person I was conducting with made this job sound very good... Wow, I can stay home and work! Well, it just seemed very uncomfortable to me the more I thought about it. They want to go ahead and send me a check for "supplys" and send the money to a vendor. I decided I didn't want to go through with it, so I told this person to please not to send me anything and to remove my information. She has continued to make me feel guilty and threaten me with arrest and prosecuation if I do not recieve this check and do what she has asked. She said once I deposit the funds in my account and send to vendor, they will leave me alone. Well, I am smarter than that. I know not to do anything with this so-called check. How hard is it to just void a check and remove information??? Well, this company is a hoax and I feel that it is a scam, trying to steal your identity. |

I also applied to this job and received my e-mail today, first very excited about such a great job opportunity. When I got to the part of the e-mail that said I had to interview over Yahoo Messenger I instantly felt like it was something fishy. I decided to research the company, and everything that popped up was scam, scam, scam. Thank you for putting this up and helping me make what I feel is the right decision! Does anyone know a way I can help prosecute them and make the scam known? Thank you! |

My wife just applied for this work at home job as well from Craigslist. She went through the Yahoo messenger interview and right away she was hired the same day. When she mentioned the details of this initial set up, I told her to stop and do not continue on. Based on these two helpful comments, it was the same story. One thing that "Lina White" asked that was not mentioned above was what bank did my wife use. She innocently told her the bank but that was it. Hope nothing comes of this. Thanks for confirming this scam.
Hope others out there can read these comments first. |

Just went through the same process myself. My red flags... Interview over yahoo messenger on a Saturday, between the hours of 9 and 4. *** If I am Head of Operations for a company, I won't be sitting around for 7 hours waiting for someone to log in for an interview. Then when I googled his name, nothing popped up, and if he is holding such a high position, then he should of popped up. Thanks to everyone regarding this! |

I just did the same- Kmm8376--
I told her I didn't have a bank account, she told me I needed one and never replied why. Then I said you never gave me info on what my job duties where gonna be. I explained I was skeptical because of all the scams, all she could say was "it's legal". Then I asked how long she's been there, where she lives and she replied with, You are obviously not serious about this position. I gave her 3 minute then replied that I was until I just called my lawyer and he said they were a scam and to remove my info from her system.( All I gave her was age, first and last name and state). She replied, "take care, god bless".
LMAO I'm sure she wasn't expecting that response. |

The Craigslist ad link I replied to was [email protected] ..
I love craigslist and do not feel this companies actions will ever effect my usage of craigslist.
It's just sad they have to be so low. |

We all must be speaking about "Ms. Elizabeth"... I have turned the check she sent and all of our transcribed conversations by way of Yahoo!IM and emails over to the FBI, BBB, Craigslist, UPS (because that is the company they use to send you the fradulent check through), Centier Bank (the bank that the check was written on) and Bank of America (because "Ms. Elizabeth" stated if I open an account there, they wouldn't give me any trouble depositing it'). My daughter-in-law who also recieved a check and attempted to deposit it into her account, not knowing it was a fake, has turned this over to Wells Fargo Bank for investigation. These people are SCUM SCAM. All the people she asked me to call for her to come online have all been notified, ect. You don't mess with my family or my money...
All of us HAVE to report this to the FBI at www.ic3.gov. It is considered an internet crime and these people are in deep sh**. She threatened me, too and wanted me to send back her check. I told her to give me her REAL full name, address and phone number and I would. I haven't heard from her since. OH! I also contacted the Palm Beach Police Department because that's where the check supposedly came from. They need to think twice about messing with me... |
