I am a soldier just returned from my fourth deployment about six months ago. My last few weeks in country I was talking to Adam a sales man at Gibsons about a truck. Once I returned I went to gibsons Adam was very nice and showed me around the shop. He took me to the back where they work on trucks pretty much rebuild them or so it looks when you go. I was very pleased I got a 08 F250 power stroke for a good price and love it. However after a month of having it my engine light came on and I had to replace an EGT sensor cost around 175 no big deal it happens. Well another month later my truck shuts off while on the interstate and tells me to come to a safe stop. Dealer said it was another bad EGT sensor okay fair enough truck got hot and could not read temps correctly. 175 dollars later truck works well two months later my truck starts to smoke real bad from my exhaust and then shuts off while driving and tells me to come to a safe stop. So for the second time I get my truck towed to a Ford dealership. They said it was bad injectors well 1200 later injectors fixed but ford says I have compression issues in my two and six cylinder. after a few weeks of them working on it. I get a call from ford saying I need a new engine and exhaust because the bad injectors put too much diesel in the two and six cylinder which caused them to burn up. Then allowing diesel to pour into my exhaust burning up my DPF and CAT. I was quoted 17000 to fix it and that is with the ford dealership helping me. The dealership and I called Gibson to see what they could do. I had only had the tuck for four months and the ford tech said that what it would have taken to do that to the injectors and the truck I could not have done in the time I had the truck. The ford dealership took up for gibsons till I told them the shop that they had and then they looked online and saw for their self. They then said that gibsons based off of their shops should have known about the trucks faults. Gibsons told the dealership and myself that their was nothing they could do because I was over the 6000 miles that they cover. Then wanted the finding from the dealership to see if they where doing the checks right. So end state I have a 26000 lawn ornament that I cant drive and still pay 450 a month on. I also have no way to fix the truck because I don't have that kind of money I now walk over 10 miles one way to work. All I am saying is if you buy a truck from gibsons get it checked by somewhere else a dealer or some one. Don't think because they have that fancy shop that your truck will be good. I love my truck and will have it fixed though I may have to sell most of what I own and move out of my house and sleep at work to come up with that kind of money to fix it. Oh by the way I am not the only one with these problems from gibson. I have several people that I work with that have gotten trucks from gibson. they have all had problems in one way or the other and got no help from gibsons. I feel and others feel that I and others where sold lemons from gibsons. In the end I just want my truck fixed I am tired of walking to work and paying for a truck that I can not drive. So buyer beware when shopping at gibsons!!!!!!! |
