On July 9th 2010 My fiance was admitted to the labor and delivery portion of the hospital due to severe eclampsia.
On July 11th 2010 the doctors let my fiance off the meds and had some freedom for a little bit then put her back on the monitors and stated "She is under sever risk for a stroke or heart attack get her back on the meds."
I went outside to vent get some air clear my head and prey for the best.
I had taken my last cigarette out of my pack and started to light it but didn't when a African American security guard approached me telling me not to smoke etc, I told him I wasn't and that I started to but crushed my cigarette and pack and disposed of them in the trash can instead that I had wanted to quit.
He drove off and not even 20 seconds later while I was on the phone with a good friend of mine the security guard squeals his tires and flys back over to me from the neighboring parking lot, While still talking to my friend the security guard proceeded to call me a white trash peice of s**t, stating that he wasn't stupid that he saw me light up a smoke as soon as he drove away and that he was going to inflict physical damage to me, drag me off the property and call the cops on me.
I have never done anything wrong and never have ever had a ounce of racist blood in me and I have been wronged but NO ONE will stand up for my rights,
My other best friend who had just had a child a couple days prior who was still at the hospital came out side to where I was when I called him and told him what happened smoked at the least 3 cigarettes in a 45 min period and the security guard never came to tell him to not smoke but as soon as my friend hid where he could still see me and I put a ink pen in my mouth that same security guard came flying over to me within 20 seconds.
There were tons of people every where near me and yet he singled me out made several racist slurs at me and multiple threats of physical harm yet nothing happened he still has his job.
9 months prior to this main incident I was in the ER because of my kidney disease and the same security guard walks past 4 or 5 African Americans standing around by the E.R. doors smoking to yell at my dad who wasn't even smoking.
I am hurt and sick of this every time I go to that hospital to take myself or one of my family members in my anxiety shoots sky high because of him, I fear going to a place that is supposed to be a safe haven because of how he treated me and my family.
I attempted to file complaints with the supervisor of security but always get the runaround when I call or get the courage to go in person. The only supervisor who was on campus the day of the incident was a Nursing Supervisor and all she was able to do was take down my complaint and file it with the main office. |
