Gamersgate.com Gamersgate sells invalid copies of PC games! Internet |
9th of Mar, 2011 by User166018 |
I recently purchased a digital download version of the PC game "NBA 2K11" from a website called gamersgate.com. This site advertises itself as a fully legitimate digital download site. It has the full functionality you would expect; however, once I paid the $29.95 and downloaded the game, I would soon find out that this company was unable to provide me with a valid cd key to register the game. After contacting their customer service department, I received an email that simply said, "Try this one". At this point, I decided to humor them and attempt to register the game with the second provided key. Once again, "Invalid CD Key". It was becoming very clear that this company is a complete fraud. It appears that they sell unlicensed downloadable versions of PC games and then use illegal key generators to provide serial keys for their products. Depending on the sophistication of the software company's security protocols, some games may accept these fraudulently-generated keys. In this case, 2ksports did not. I immediately began the refund process with the company that processes their credit card transactions (moneybookers.com) and reported the incident to their merchant services department. In summary, DO NOT USE GAMERSGATE.COM! IT IS A SCAM! - A very disappointed customer |

If what your saying is true then why is their site still up and is number 2 on Google's search list for "buy and download games"? Why not report them to copyright people? Have you considered the possibility that your computer had a virus when you purchased the game and that they stole then used both key codes before you could? Well when you find out could you up date this thing so I can know if its safe to buy from them its really boring were I am and they have a pretty good selection so please hurry before I am temped by boredom. |

I think you both are wrong. Gamersgate is the largest game library and they work with most if not all the game developers directly. You can't have everything working 100%, look how many games they have and how many people - they are in second comparing to Steam. I think you should use your common sense more and some understanding, instead crying and blaming companies once something went wrong. I have friends who own 100+ games from them, yes they did some time receive a bad key - nothing unresolvable if you properly contact support. And, just for the common sense sake, ask any official publisher or developer for confirmation if they work with Gamersgate, i am sure you will get a positive result, and your point here will be irrelevant. |

I have literally bought dozens of games from them without an issue. any minor difficulties I have had downloading games I contacted support and were resolved quickly. I think this one could be chalked up to user error |
