Frigidaire Electrolux SELLING DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS Martinez, Georgia
12th of Dec, 2011 by User961505
I purchased a stainless microwave from KMart/Sears in March 2011. After being promised week after week it was finally delivered in JUNE 2011. When they came to install I noticed it was not in a frigidaire box and questioned the installers about that. After installation I asked the guys for the booklet that comes with it and they did not have one and told me I could get one from the company. Right from the start something was not right about the microwave. Anything that was in there for five minutes or more would cause the microwave to smell like something was burning and make funny noises. Sometimes it would be fine, most times it would act up. Finally the first week of Nov 2011 it was making noises so loud it sounded like it was going to blow up and smelled like something was on fire inside it. I called frigidaire and they gave me several numbers of repairmen. I called all six of them. The first guy told me I would have to pay 160.00 for an additional man. Since this was under warranty and I should not have to pay, I called a few others. No one even returned my call except for one guy. He asked me what the problem was - I told him and he said he would order the parts and it would take 10 days for them to come in - as soon as he got them he would call me. Almost three weeks passed and I still didn't hear from, despite numerous calls to his voice mail. He finally called me back and set up an appt for the following week. At this time I was already without a working microwave for FOUR WEEKS! The repairman was a very nice guy - spent two hours here repairing it. He took it out from the wall, took the whole thing apart and showed me the burnt pieces inside it that should never happen to a new microwave. I assumed he tested it before he installed it again. After all that, when he tested it, sparks started coming out of it and it blew a circuit breaker. Apparently he put a screw through one of the wires. He went down the basement and reset the breaker and took the microwave out of the wall again, worked on it some more and then reinstalled it. From going in and out so many times, the frame is bent and one of the vents underneath is totally broken. Again, he told me it was working fine. The next day I went to use the microwave and the exact same thing is happening. It cannot be used because it sounds like it is going to blow up. I have been working with a man named John at Frigidaire in Georgia who has tried to help me get a new microwave, but the company now wants someone to come and look at this one again. It is now SIX WEEKS that I am without a microwave and still no one is lined up to either repair it or replace it. Since this one is defective, and now damaged, I want a new one asap.
