Frank Fasanella, DVM Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Not safe for our animal Las Vegas, Nevada
16th of Mar, 2013 by User847262
For about a day or so our cat had not been feeling well or acting right so we decided in the evening to take him to a doctor because he had definitely not improved. We found the veterinary emergency and critical care hospital online and that it was open so we went there. When we arrived we were the only customers there. We went to the receptionist desk they told us it would be one minute, and then they put us into an examination room they said that the doctor would be with us in just a few minutes. The room was not very clean there was a pee stain on the floor. After a few minutes ago by a technician came in and took our cat back to be examined and said that shortly after the examination the doctor would be with us. During this time we heard two other parties come into the facility, we were able to hear this because the room we were in was right next to the receptionist desk. We waited and waited and throughout the time people continued to pop their head into the room and say “it will just be a few more minutes.” This continued on for about 2 1/2 hours until finally the doctor came in the room, during this entire time we had not seen our cat he had been back in some examination area we suppose. The doctor then sat down and explained he did a very thorough examination of our cat and cannot determine what the problem is. He continued to say that he is a very friendly cat and that the noises we heard our Make during the 2 1/2 hour wait that we had was because a dog to walk by near him and the doctor continued on saying your cat must not like dogs. At this point the doctor then tells us that blood work is needed and x-rays and those can both be done right away for cost of $600. He then tells us that he will leave room for little bit and let us decide and once we make our decision to step outside and find a receptionist and let her know that she will page him in the back to let him know our decision. We decided that it would best to do blood work that night and that we would follow up with our vet in the morning. We informed the receptionist and then about a half-hour later the doctor came in the room and had a bit of an attitude inquiring why we're only going to do the blood work and not everything, and then proceeded to inquire if it was a problem with the cost of the exams. We explained that we felt that the cost of the x-rays were overpriced and that would be better for us to explore options the next day with another vet. He then continued with his attitude and inquired about our finances and asked what our budget would allow and asked a lot of financial questions which we were not open to answering. He also seemed more concerned about selling the tests than he did about actually taking care of our pet. He then finally agreed that he would do blood work. At this point I asked we have been here for over four hours how long is the blood were going to take? He replied about 15 min. I said okay. About an hour and a half later the technician stuck her head in the door and said they were having a glitch with the system and it might be another half-hour until they have the results from the blood work. I completely lost it I told her that they were absolutely ridiculous and that this was completely unacceptable at this point the doctor then came rushing over and told me he was very unprofessional and that we want our pet and we want to leave. The doctor then said the test will be done in 15 min. I would hate to have you leave now where it's just about ready and you're already going to pay for it. We waited to receive the blood work and receive the information we need from it. The doctor did wave his examination fee. But the next day we took our pet to our vet. Our Doctor had our cat in the examination room for approximately 8 min. and came right over and said there is a string under your cat's tongue and he showed me the string which was approximately 2 inches long which ran into our cat stomach. This resulted in our cat requiring to have surgery. It is completely astonishing to me how this Dr Frank Fasanella can have an animal and examination room for over 4 1/2 hours and say that they are taking great care of that animal and then further say they did a very thorough examination and yet they never caught that. We called to speak to the administrator of the hospital room we never had the opportunity speak to, I guess maybe they were too ashamed to speak with us. Our money that we spend there is supposed to be completely reimbursed but, that we have not seen yet. And they have the audacity to have Dr Frank Fasanella call me to tell me this. The doctor then had the nerve to tell me that our cat struggled a lot during the examination and those were the cries of we had heard. But yet only read there waiting forever he said it was because of the dog that walked by, so now he's lying to cover his tracks. We never did hear back from the administrator still to this day. I guess they felt that it was sufficient having a slap in the face of Dr Frank Fasanella calling us. This Dr. Frank Fasanella would have killed our pet if we would've not realized his incompetence. This business is very greedy and is only concerned about getting your money, need proof look at the facts. 1.) The administrator never spoke to one of their customers about a serious complaint regarding one of their doctors. 2.) Dr. Frank Fasanella showed more passion about up charging on exams that actually performing a physical exam on our pet. (Proof how do you miss 2 inches of string under a Cat's Tongue) 3.) the cost of the x-ray alone was over $350 which we did not do, good thing to because the x-rays we had done at our vets office only cost $65. Protect yourself and your pet by going somewhere else! For further reference please refer to the following links. (((link redacted)))
