Foundation Marketing Inc
Foundation Marketing Inc. Foundation Mktg, Ian Laird Pyramid Scam, Pryamid scheme, Pyramid direct sales, San Diego, California
17th of Mar, 2011 by User891223
This company advertises on craigslist for marketing jobs that will lead to mangement opportunites, Promotions,Sales, Marketing, Entry-Level Management, and Training. They convince you that you can do all of this if you can first sell their product, in this case Victoria Jackson make-up, whatever that is? This consists of you walking up to every and any person on the street and asking them if they would buy a $80 package for $20, if no, on to the next for 8 hours a day, if so then you have just made a pryamid sale for your 'manager'. You made $7 for one sale, he made $7 for you selling for him, and the $6 goes to the actual product. You are 'encouraged' to sell 15-20 packets a day at whatever cost and then you will be moved into the 'management program'. Now you get to bring in your own team/crew so they can start selling for you and for your 'manager'. The more they sell the more you get and he gets, and the pryamid keeps growing from there. Foundation Marketing tries to pass this off as actual marketing, but it is direct sales in a shady setup. Anyone who actually knows a thing about marketing will know this a joke and should run quickly. They will try to teach you the 5-step sale method, and the 'law of averages' which mainly means the more people you try to pawn this product off to the better chance you will have to sell 15-20/day. Please do not be fooled by the ad's for jobs, or the 'easy-money' you can make while becoming a 'manager'. All you are doing in lining the pockets of the people above you. Beware of this scam!

Ian Laird is now changing the company name to Inspired (getinspired.us) because there is so much negative information about Foundation on the Internet. I wonder if Smart Circle corporate knows about all of this?

Now the San Diego office changed their name once again to Keystone. And the San Diego assistant manager Sandy El-Rayes is now opening up the Encino office called Diamond, Inc. What are these people hiding that they keep changing their name?

I am originally from the Boston area and boy was it the biggest mistake of my life working for Foundations Inc. In 2012, it was my first time ever out in California. I lived in San Diego at the time. I was trying to see if I could get a job while trying to finish school and so I came across an ad on Craigslist about an entry level marketing position at Foundations Inc. and to contact Sandy. The ad had stated that it was for office work only, had to have good computer skills, not your door to door sales job. I get there and I hear tons of people in the back laughing and so after I had finished working on the application, Sandy had me meet her in the back towards the room of loud people. As we are talking I had asked her if I would be making base pay, not commission, Sandy said that the company pays only base pay and that they offer benefits but that I would need some training. Of course I said to myself not so bad, until I met Ian. When I got a chance to meet Ian, he was very stuck up, had an attitude as if he was better than everyone else in the room and was telling me how the company operates. So I ended up getting the second interview and ended up getting the position. Now when they said make sure you wear comfortable shoes, I thought this was an office position? Ian said this was part of the training then the office position will follow...WRONG! All I remember was that I was with three other people, in a car and talking about what are my goals and why I joined Foundations inc, all I told them was to do either office work and build leadership skills. So we get out of the car and start asking people at different strip malls if they wanted to buy our product, some people did, and some said it was a scam! When I asked the girl who was training me why are the customers saying this a is a scam? The girl replied its not a scam, which I found quite odd. So after being on my feet from 8am-7pm at night, my feet were sore, bleeding, and I was tired and sweaty. We all meet in Ian's office and everyone is counting their cash. I asked the girl why is everyone giving most of their money to Ian? She told me that half it goes to Ian and that we only get a percentage back, which I still found odd($20 I made). The next few days we continued to sell the product and then we had stopped at a Del Taco fast food joint. We are sitting there eating and I had asked the girl when do we get paid? she said what do you mean get paid? I said don't we get paid, like base pay? She said no we only make commission, all I said was, oh. So we get back to the office and everyone is happy while once again Ian is just Ian, talking down about previous workers on how he was better than everybody and how everyone else before him was stupid, that's how cocky he was. So the girl who was training me had an appointment and couldn't meet up so she had me work with her former partner. Lets just put it this way, I did not go back after working there for a week and a half. My feet were still sore, I was sunburned, and I never made any money only the $20 I had gotten from Ian. They even started calling me, wondering why I didn't show up. Now as I look back, I felt so stupid to believe in such crooked people and a crooked company. After my experience, I still couldn't find work, left school, and moved back to Boston. When I got back to Boston, I found out that Foundation Inc is also based in the Financial district and saw them down at the strip mall(South Bay Mall) not far from where I grew up in Boston, selling to people. I was telling everyone don't buy their products, that I worked for them in Cali and they are frauds! So if you come across this ad or from anything that entails entry- level, no experience, marketing, RUN FOR THE HILLS!!! Its a scam! You will never become a manager, you'll only be making people like Sandy and Ian richer and leaving you in the whole. After my experience and moving back here to Boston, I enrolled at Northeastern and will be graduating this summer plus, I have been doing a lot of temp work and making real money with benefits...I still wonder if the girl that was training me had ever made it to management or opened her laundromat in her hometown of Indianapolis, I think not:( I just pray that she woke up and left there. Its sad how there are so many of these companies out there coning people to join in on their scheme.
