I took them a Chevy 350 engine to have it overhauled. They gave me an estimate and by the work order the final price was not supposed to exceed 10% over the estimate ($1150). This should have just been a basic tear down, clean, put new rings and gaskets and reassemble. However when i went to pick my engine up the bill was $2475....FOR A REBUILD!...I could have bought a brand new crate motor for that! When I asked why the bill was so high, they replied there was other things that needed to be done that could not be told till it was opened up...I understand that, but what i don't understand is how the work was done without me authorizing it. When I asked about that their piss poor answer mumbled was that the work needed to be done. When i looked further at the work order I discovered they were charging me for things that did not HAVE to be done and that they were only trying to do what I had heard about them around town. That is inflate the price so high that i would not pay the bill and they could keep my engine to resell on their own. Its people like this that give me and everyone else in this industry a bad taste in our mouths! |

JOHN CLARK Author of this complaint is from Sanford florida he works at a transmission shop in Sanford now.
First off this was an Engine for a Modified Race Car that runs at New Smyrna Race Track as well as Orlando speedworld. This happened about 7 years ago. Why he still has hangups about it I have no idea. He brought the engine to rebuild & when disassembled we found more issues requiring more parts. He was informed of the findings at that time & approved it.
When we got the engine all done, He didn't have a dime to pay for it. His transmission business was failing. The engine sat here for almost >...3 YEAR...UNPAID< UNCLAIMED<. I did not sell it, it sat here forever, so I used it as a dyno mule. JOHN CLARK was charged storage charges which made the bill go up, if he would have picked it up when it was done his bill would not have gone up so high. The State of Florida laws allows any automotive business to charge storage at $15 per day after 30 days. I exercised my right to do this. This was not the first time I had issues with him paying on a timely basis. We have only had 2 customers in our 25 yrs of business that have lost their engine. The other one we had found went to Jail & came back by 8 years later to tell us sorry about the engine deal, He has us build him a new one & is still a customer to this day.
We pride ourselves in doing an outstanding job for all of our customers. The only complaints about us online are from JOHN CLARK. I was just told about these complaints by a friend that saw it online.
