FL A/C & Duct Cleaning Service One A/C for the price of TWO!!!!!!!!!!!! Hallendale, Florida

I got an estimate from FL A/C for replacement of my a/c unit. Salesperson, Jimmy, and his assistant, Jacob, came to my residence that day. Jacob didn't speak English but Jimmy did and they were from Israel. I felt comfortable with that because of my family background. Jimmy gave me a price for a new unit at $3745. He convinced me that my a/c vents were all moldy and needed cleaning so the new unit would work better and be more sanitary. I fell for it and agreed to let his partner clean our vents and sanitize them. Jimmy and I got on very well as we were both critter lovers......he sold Akitas and had many pets like I do and we share a common heritage as well. Jimmy said it would cost $1070 for the vent cleaning/sanitizing and requested a $500 "deposit" on the a/c unit in order to keep that particular price good. He said that this would be my charge today on my Discover Card and then upon installation of the new unit I would pay the balance of $3245, which was fine.


When I received my statement from Discover I found that I was charged the $1070, which was OK, the $500 deposit, which was also OK, the $3245 which was fine as agreed BUT there was another charge for $3745!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went numb when I saw this and immediately called the company and got the usual run around like everyone else who complained about them received. The person I needed to speak to was "not in yet", or "not at their desk", or "in a meeting". I was promised time and time again that "someone" will get back to me, which of course NEVER happened! I also spoke with a Nairobi a few times and my situation was never resolved or have I received phone calls back from anyone at that company.


I had my Discover Card dispute this charge but they investigated it and found that the company was not at fault and that I had signed the bills!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I called them again and asked them to RE-Investigate this for me so they once again put a temporary credit for that $3745 amount on my card.


NEVER did Jimmy say that the price for the unit was over $3745! I feel like the stupidest person in the world to have been duped by these people like this and have been charged TWICE for the one a/c unit! I just wrote a letter to the Better Business Bureau about this and it seems my only other choice of action will be to hire an attorney to try and resolve this. Jimmy was sweet talking me and he was generous enough to "throw in" the ultra violet light thing" if I ordered the a/c from his company. He did keep his word on us getting that reusable filter that they usually charge customers for.


I feel so defeated with my tail between my legs for being so dumb and trusting I had made the right choice of companies to hire. If my Discover Card cannot resolve this dispute then I am obligated to pay the extra $3745 since FL A/C already was paid by Discover Card for this. That is quite a lot to swallow in this economy and I don't want them to get away with this blatant theft of my money.


When I started reading all these complaints from other people who were ripped off by them it made me wish I had done my homework more thoroughly and researched this comany BEFORE hiring them. You know what they say about hindsite is true!


Anyway, that is MY sad story and I hope these people do not get away with this. Their ad from the Value Pak envelope I got them out of also said FREE VENT CLEANING with purchase of new a/c unit............so now I see how UNFREE that ultra violet light thing was..............whatta jerk I am!
