We contracted & paid Expand Social on July 20th, 2011 to create a Facebook landing page. The design, code, and all assets were promised to be delivered in 5 days or less. In addition to the landing page, we also contracted Expand Social to help us with some Facebook and social media marketing. We only paid for the Facebook landing page, though, with the condition that we'd pay for the other services after we were satisfied with the landing page. That turned out to be a very wise decision on our part. We had to follow up with Danny Gargano at Expand Social several times before even seeing a preliminary design. When we did hear back from him, he related that his car caught on fire and he was out of commission for several days due to that. On August 3rd, we saw our first (very poor) design concept that basically took elements of our existing website and copied and pasted them into a Facebook-sized page layout. We responded with our commentary and changes the same day. Again, we had to follow up with Danny several times before seeing a revised concept. We heard similar dramatic stories about why things were taking so long. On August 10th, we received our last communication from Danny at Expand Social - another poor design revision of the page. After responding that we weren't happy with the page and were growing concerned with the length of time the process was taking, we did not hear back from Danny. We have left several voice mails, emails and even a message on Expand Social's Twitter account, with no response to any of these communications. We decided to do a little Internet sleuthing about Danny Gargano and Expand Social and discovered that Danny has a history of swindling people. It is our belief that Danny is a scam artist and will attempt to con you out of money when you contract with him for any services. Upon investigation, we found other people complaining about Dan/Danny regarding another business venture where he scammed people out of tickets. Read the comments on this blog starting about 1/2 way down the page where Dan mentions he owns a website called ticketmuncher.com http://www.idealog.us/2004/09/oh_my_god_ticke.html You will see he apparently has a long history of starting what appears to be reputable businesses, and then conning people out of their money. We paid for the Facebook page using Google Checkout and contacted them today to inquire about a refund. They gave us a full refund (thankfully) and mentioned that they have removed Expand Social as a vendor in their system because of other fraud reports. So, we weren't the only ones taken by him. Our intent writing this is that there won't be many others!
