ESPN ESPN Insider Took money from me they were not supposed to and then lied to me to get me off the phone Bristol, Connecticut

I had an ESPN subscription a few years ago but didn't think it was necessary to keep as I didn't really read the magazines anyways so I cancelled it. Then, a little over a month ago or so they started offering free access to INsider, which basically means you get to read all their articles including the ones that you have to pay for and you get a subscription to their magazine. I took it. I did not want to renew it so I cancelled before the auto renew and was assured by the agent I spoke to that it had been cancelled and I would NOT be charged. A few days later I noticed a charge on my account from ESPN even though I had cancelled the account and was told I would not be charged. The problem was, I did not have the money to cover the withdrawal so it overdrew my account which was a big reason I wanted to cancel the account in the first place. I called to complain and was told that whoever handled my cancellation did it wrong and they did not know why I had been charged at all. I told the agent I was not happy and that because of them my account had been overdrawn and he told me there was nothing he could do about it so I asked to speak to a supervisor. Keep in mind, I cancelled my account BEFORE the renewal so there was absolutely no reason they should have charged me. The supervisor I spoke to apologized and told me I had done nothing wrong and that he would speak to the agent that took my first call. I then told him about my account being overdrawn because of their mistake and he put me on hold to see what he could about it, he came back and told me that since I had made previous purchases that he could refund those purchases to cover the mistake they made. That seemed like a good deal so I told him I'd accept it and he began to get the ball rolling, or so I thought. He told me it was done and that I would receive the money within 24 hours depending on how long my bank took to process the transaction. I thanked him, he again apologized and then we hung up. Five days later I still had not received the additional refund I was promised (I did get my $39.95 back that they took in the first place) so I called back to see what the hold up was. Funny thing, not only did they tell me what I had been promised by the previous supervisor was impossible but that there were not even notes on the account stating he had done anything for me. I asked again to speak to a supervisor and he told me that there was absolutely nothing notated saying the other supervisor before him had spoken to me and offered me that refund, and then he confirmed that what the previous supervisor had promised was not even possible. By now I was very upset that I had been outright lied to, I mean the guy told me he was setting up the refund when it was not even possible to do, so what was he really doing on the phone, twiddling his thumbs while lying to me? But I was even more upset to find that the previous supervisor I'd spoken to didn't even notate anything so there was absolutely no proof of what I was saying, other than my word. If you've ever worked at a call center before you know how strange it is that the account would not get notated. I asked the supervisor to go ask the agent I had spoken to that day if they remembered what the supervisor had promised me and of course they didn't remember anything. Shocking. When he came back I asked who else I could speak to and just got the generic BS reply "I'm sorry there is nothing I can do for you at this time, I apologize for any inconvenience" he basically just told me that it didn't matter that I'd been lied to and that they were not going to do anything about it. So just to recap, they took my money after my account was cancelled even though they had no reason to, then when I called back to complain about them taking my money and overdrawing my account I was lied to by a supervisor about the refund I would be given, seemingly just to get rid of me. Even worse, he covered his tracks by not notating anything he had promised me so there was no proof of it. And their response to all this was "oops, our bad but we're not going to do anything about it so see ya!" I would advise against anyone using ESPN services like this now, I cancelled my account on time and they still took my money. The lying is very sneaky and underhanded, and covering it up is even worse. They've seen their last cent from me.
