| SHAYNE SMITH... Can be described all in one word, THIEF! I first met this man when I found him on the internet desperately looking for a mechanic to be able to get to work and take care of my newborn baby. I dealt with him previously before with a small electrical problem that made my car not start. He came out in that Big BLUE AND GRAY van not looking professional at all. So I asked for His papers and license, he presented something with an Outdated date on it but said he cant find his Newest form of insurance. I should have walked away right after that, BUT I was in desperate need because my living situation was in Jeopardy. He Claimed to have fixed my problem but about 2 weeks later my car was back to doing the same thing. So I called him back out to fix his problem. I guess he got lucky because it was running steady for a good month. BUT!! This isn't the bad part yet, Later on, I ended up blowing a Head Gasket, I called Shayne out for a quote because I'm in a new town and Desperate for a mechanic and honestly know NO one else who will come mobile, and assess your vehicle. He gives me a WRITTEN QUOTE and a set price. I agree and about 2 months later have him come out(Because it took me that long to save that much money). So He come's out to tow my car and hauls it away. This was Thursday, I PLEED my case to him that this HAS to be done by monday morning because I CANNOT miss work anymore because I have missed to much already (DUE TO CAR ISSUES). He says it will be ready. Sunday night rolls around and He does not call, Ignores my calls, and makes me feel he has No Value in his customers. Finally Monday morning (around 3 a.m.) I get a call from him and he lets me know he cant have it until Tuesday because it was burned out really bad. Then tries to ask for more money because the problem was more serious than he thought, But I already paid him previously 65 dollars for a Diagnostic. I simply had to tell him that you gave me a quote and i'm sticking to it and you wont get a penny more. Tuesday night rolls around, he does not call and ignore's my calls. Wednesday morning rolls around and at about 4 a.m he calls and says he is on his way, he does not arrive until 5 a.m and has the worst attitude ever. I pay him, he doesn't even count the money and Goes about his business. Now 2 months later can you guys guess whats happening with my car??? BLOWN HEAD GASKET and my electrical problem is back in effect!! I disguise my number and call from a friends phone because he is Obviously ignoring mine and I get a hold of him and he claims he is in "TEXAS" and wont be back for awhile. I Have been calling, leaving messages, and he will not answer me or my fiancee's phone calls. Im just glad I have receipts to prove all the money I put in this and he will not be seeing the last of me. So all together I have paid Shayne roughly around 1,300 dollars and still have the same problems I came to him with!! Now you have to realize im in a new town trying to raise my family, newborn baby and a fiancee. If I am not able to get to work, I cant pay bills, If I cant pay bills I get kicked out of my apartment and me and my family is on the street! I put my LIFE basically in shaynes hands and he threw it in the TRASH with NO REMORSE! PLEASE! IF YOU EVER SEE THAT BIG BLUE AND GRAY VAN, RUN!! DO NOT TRUST THIS CON MAN WITH YOUR VEHICLE. HE WILL LEAVE YOU OUT IN THE COLD!!! |

| Hi, I am a mobile mechanic and a auto repair shop owner I have been doing buisness on craigslist for the past 3 years under the company name Nates Mobile Service. I started out doing mobile mechanic service and now I work primarily out of my Auto Repair Shop In Murrieta. I read your complaint and I understand the frusration you have . But when I read the review I feel its unfair and unresponsible of you to blame the mechanic completely for your situation. First off you never want to put too much pressure on a mechanic and cause him to rush and cause him to overlook something by accident . Second you need to understand that things come up and you should be prepared to cover any additional repairs the were not forseen so that it can be done right, especially on a head gasket.It sounds like the mechanic was really trying his best to accomidate you even working all night long to try to make your deadlines. And last I know he was not your only option, theres about 10 different things you could have done differently like get rid of the car and buy a cash car to get you by. I feel the worst thing he may have done is maybe made a mistake like not notice the deck on the bottom end was warped or not of had the funds necessary to complete the job properly |
