| Empi Traction Machine Ripoff---Harrassed After Sending Worthless Machine Back Chicago, Illinois |

| I was very dissatisfied with the Saunders Cervical Traction machine issued by Empi through my doctor's office and sent it back. It was not covered by my United Healthcare insurance, which should have told me it wasn't a proven therapy, but I trusted my doctor. Empi waited 6 months to begin billing me $435 for their joke of a traction machine, which was more like a toy than a real medical device. They had billed my insurance company $725, but they reduced it for me when no insurance was involved. What a racket. I sent the machine back, I don't have it, didn't use it more than 2 or 3 times, didn't damage it in any way, and mailed it back in the original box. Empi claims that it is a non-refundable item and that I kept it too long. They've turned my case over to a collection agency. I refuse to pay for fraudulent charges on faulty equipment. I'm glad to know I'm not alone in having a complaint against Empi. What a lousy company with crappy equipment and even poorer customer relations. |

Hi, my name is navygirl. I am so sorry that you got taken and I mean taken. You know 3 years ago, I had a bad problem with my checking account or debit account. I went to write a check for my nurse aide to go get cashed. When she got to the bank, they said I didn't have any money in my accunt, I said What!!, because I just knew I did. I could't do anything but wait until I got my statement to findout what was going on. They wouldn't give any information to my nurse aide. When I got my statement there werre all kinds of charges that I know I never heard of any of these people and one of them was the Empirestyle.net company. I started right in contacting all of these people, most of them gave me my money back, also the bank would not help me. While I am in the process of trying to track down these people, the bank used my Social Security Disability to pay off these amounts. Even though I got the credits from the bank kept my check, then the bank started also giving me the credits, except for the Empire Style. I found their website and learned that they were based in Germany, but also with a location in New York. I emailed them so many times but never heard from them, not once. I wrote regular letters, again no answer. I couldn't call them because I could not afford an overseas call. I contacted the Federal Trades Comission. I tried to cntact them 3 or 4 times, but they would not help me. I used their form or aplication. I couldn't afford a lawyer to bring charges against them. They were also on consignment with Amazon.com. I contacted them through email and regular mail. They did answer me and said they were glad that I contacted them and that they were going to take care of it. They said they did not allow any thing like this on their site. Guess what the last thing I did. I wrote to the President of the United States. They also did nothing.
These people stole $411.00 plus $12.99 dollars from my account. They said it was for merchandise that I ordered from them. In the first place I could not afford to buy anything that cost that much and the second place they sell to people who are petite to children. Oh the $12.99 was for export fees charged. I saw your letter and decided that I would try once again with the President. When I first lodged my complaint with Rip-Off I saw it looked like hundreds of complaints. So now I am looking for all of those complaints to send with my letter to the President. They never answered me last time. Doesn't this sound great when the Presidents Office won't even help you.
Again, I am so sorry that this happened to you. Don't give up on trying to get your money back. They will continue getting away with it as long as we keep letting them. They need to know that we are all on them and it is going to stop. Write your letter directed to the President. If we send enough letters to him, maybe he will see that this is going on, that it is really bad. It is an election year. If enough people complain and there is a chance it could ruin the election for him, maybe he might do something.
