Emily Barlage Petfinder.com pet scam Lincoln, Nebraska

I placed an ad on petfinder.com advertising my kitty. A few days later I received an email from Emily Barlage inquiring about my pet. A day or so after that I received another email stating that her husband was willing to pay any price for the kitty plus shipping because he wanted it for his daughters 10th birthday. I was to provide my name address and phone number so they could send me a check. Emily stated that she is deaf and would have to communicate via email. Emily's husband is supposedly Robert Barlage and they have been married 12 years and have two daughters and they live in Lincoln Nebraska. I decided to google Emily Barlage and some how came across this website and saw a report of the same thing happening to another person almost identical to what happened to me. I could not understand why someone would be willing to pay any amount for a kitty when there are so many kitties roaming around and I am sure there are kitties in Lincoln Nebraska.

We posted our pet for adoption in petfinders as well. Three days later we received 2 emails, one from Emily Tara Barlage and other from Richard West. Our first impression was that this was a married couple and both were sending us emails without realizing they were both speaking with us - same story line for both. It wasnt until the next day and few emails into our communication we realized that this must be a scam. Emily Barlage and family were in Lincoln, Nebraska and Richard West was at 1910 Cameron Rd, Broadway, NC (which when you google, is undeveloped land). Beware...there are scammers left and right. Best option is to deal with folks local in your area.

same thing here. Guy claiming to be richard west wanting a puppy for his daughter rufina's birthday. I figured on my own it was a scam because he kept ignoring my statements about how the puppy cannot go to a home yet its still to young. Plus i googled the address 1901 cameron rd broadway, nc and it gave me undeveloped land. Seriously how can people stoop so low. Its sad that you have to struggle to find decent, honest people out there!
