My wife and I wanted a pool for years. After finally saving and scrimping everywhere we could we had enough money to purchase our dream pool. We called (4) pool companies for quotes. Our last company was Independent Pools aka Mr. Shawn Lanier. He was the smoothest talker of them all !!!!!!!!! He talk bad about the other companies. Stupid us we listen. Big mistake. So, we signed the contract and gave him a deposit. He was great until he got the first big payment. Then, well we were treated like second class citizens.The dream pool then became a nightmare, everything was a fight. What sucks about the whole thing is when the other companies called us back and we were proud of our decision, they told us about him. We asked Shawn a few questions they brought up,and he said they were all jealous of him. Again, we believed him. Shawn then started only talking to my wife, because she was a naive person. We finally got the pool done. It took several months after he said 6 to 8 weeks. Some of the work stone, tile, plaster is shoddy at best. The pool is fairly new and should not look like this. I researched Shawn after this, and was stunned to read and hear from other contractors about his past. Now, he stopped returning calls about fixing the shoddy workmanship. He states he is now partners in a new company called "Edge Water Pools". This cat has nine lives. I guess his new partners are scammers also. My advice to any new pool shoppers is stay as far away as possible. Deal with legitimatecompanies who have not changed their name. I would love to leave my name and phone number, but because of the threats he made my wife is scared of him.
