I apologize ahead of time for the length of this but I wanted ot include all of the facts. A+ masonry And ED FESTA of SCRANTON ,PA are UNLICENSED AND NOT REGISTERED WITH THE PENNSYLVANIA ATTORNEY GENERAL AS HOME IMPROVEMENT CONTRACTORS. THEY CAUSED THE COLLAPSE OF MY DRIVEWAY BY LEAVING THE SIDES EXPOSED TO EROSION AND FAILED TO RETURN IN A TIMELY MANNER TO REPAIR OR REPLACE OR EVEN FINISH THE JOB THEY WERE PAID FOR!! Several weeks ago I had a driveway replaced and the sides were in need of a retaining Wall. My Neighbor brought over a friend of hers, ED FESTA and his partner GEORGE (unknown last name), recommended him and he spoke about all the technical aspects of retaining walls, His number of years experience and showed me pictures of various masonry walls and stonework he and his partner supposedly Did in the area. I agreed to let them measure and advised them at least 6 times that a GAS line ran under where they would be digging and I didn't know how Deep it was, They agreed to call PA ONE CALL. I had them quote the Retaining wall job and replacement steps for the side of my home that were crumbling as well. We agreed on the price of $5610.00 for the entire job. On September 16th they brought the contract for me to sign, I gave them a Check for the full amount. I was on the way out and already late so they stated they would bring my copy of the contract with them When they began working the following day. Friday Sept 17th arrived and I returned home form work to find they had dug out the entire stairs and most of both sides of the driveway. I went into the house with my kids, came back out and they had left. No word of when they would return. Sunday Sept 19th they arrived and began digging. About an hour later ED FESTA came to the door and said His guys had struck and ruptured the gas line. I was Pissed because I had told them 6 times about it. I called the gas company line and THEY notified the Fire department. After all arrived I advised ED to give the Gas company his information and Leave the property. On Monday my wife suggested that since we had already paid them the full amount that we give them a second chance and allow them to work. My wife called and explained this to ED and he agreed and apologized for breaking the gasline. Since Monday September 19th We have had multiple contacts from Ed stating they would be doing work or having supplies delivered on certain days only to have them NOT SHOW UP AND NOT CALL EXPLAINING WHY. It has been harder and harder to get in touch with ED or GEORGE. They had one man show up on Saturday Sept 24th to CLean a pile of Dirt out of our driveway and nothing else. BECAUSE OF THE WAY THEY LEFT OUR DRIVEWAY THE RAIN HAS NOW BEGUN TO ERODE THE DIRT UNDERNEATH AND THE DRIVEWAY HAS BEGUN TO COLLAPSE ON ONE SIDE. ON Monday September 26, 2011 I messaged ED and asked for His PA Home improvement contractor Number AS REQUIRED BY THE PA ATTORNEY GENERALS OFFICE and he called My wife SREAMING about how WE had cost HIM money by calling the fire Department. HIS MORONS BROKE THET GASLINE!!! Anyway, He failed to provide me with the PA HIC # because HE IS NOT REGISTERED AS REQUIRED BY LAW. DO NOT USE THEM FOR ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!! Filed a complaint with Pa Attorney General, DOn't want anyone else to get ripped off by this Scammer who did more damage to my property than he fixed! |

The day I wrote this complaint (Sept 26, 2011) Ed Festa and His wife, Bridget, Filed for their PA Home improvement contractor number. It is PA0085190. They have also stated they would be completed with this job on September 27, 2011 bUt have failed to show up with no explanation. Abandoning a job and failing to perform stated work is a violation of Pennsylvania statute 73 Known as the Home improvement consumer protection act Section 517.8 a2 and is graded as a Felony. They also, despite repeated requests have failed to provide me a written copy of the contract I signed a Violation of Section 517.7c. |
