Shouldn't one expect people to do their job correctly and thoroughly the first time, instead of having to have them redo it ??? Doesn't anyone do their job any more? I, recently, purchased a used auto from Earnhardt Hundai in N. Scottsdale. The salesman, John L., included a full detailing service (in writing) and indicated he, personnaly, free of charge, would replace the tailslights which were cracked on the left side, (I needed to buy them and bring them back to him). I did purchase the correct type of taillights, myself, then arranged for the full detailing service and the lights to be take care of on the same day. I dropped the car off at the dealership the night before, so they could get started on it right away on the next day. I was without my car all day and had to arrange for a friend to transport me. Within two hours, the next morning, I received a call indicating, from the salesman, that the taillights could not be replaced because they needed a converter of some sort, since the electrical connections were not the same and did not match up. (I found out later, this was not the case). I took my car to another place, the very next day, and they were able to relace them with no problem! This was another out of pocket cost which the salesman indicated I would not have to pay, since he would take care of it! In the middle of the day I called. I was told by Jason F., the detailing would be finished after 4:00 pm. and I could pick the car up after that. I called again, around 4:00, and they indicated the car was ready, and they were going to give it a wash just before I picked it up, since there was a possibility of rain and they didn't want the car to be rained on before I picked it up. A friend took me to the dealership around 4:30, so I could get the car. Due to time contraint of needing to be at an appointment before 5:00, I looked the car over briefly, took the service manager's word that the full detailing had been done, and immediately went to my appointment which was 10 mins. away. At that appointment, I was having the car assessed for a touch-up paint job. Mind you, this was within 10 mins. of picking up the car from Earnhardt Hundai. When the paint-pro and I began reviewing the car for paint touch-ups, he and I started noticing, immediately, that all the things that are included in a full detail service, were not done! Bottom line, it looked as if the car had only been given a basic carwash that you receive at an inexpensive, drivethough car wash! And for this, they needed to have the car all day!!!??? The car had not been buffed and waxed thoroughly and properly. The engine bay had not been cleaned at all, as was indicated would be done. Spots in the carpets and interior fabric were totally missed. Vacuumming and dusting and cleaning of the interior were not done. Even in the sunroof, a dead moth had been ignored and left in the visor! We found other things that were missed, as well. Within 45 mins. of having left Earnhardt Hundai, I called the person I had been dealing with in the service dept. I explained what the paint-pro and I had found, and I wanted to know how he would rectify the situation. Needless to say, he indicated I would have to bring the car back the following week so it could be worked on, again. Since I teach and need to be at school before 7:00 am., this meant I would need to bring it back to them the night before, and then try to, somehow, get to work the next day! I was told by the serve person, Jason F., that he would need to speak to his boss, to see if he could get me a loaner car, while they had my car. All this remains to be seen! I will follow through with the senario and see what transpires and then, get back with the final outcome. Let's see if they can get it right the second time around, when it should have been done correclty and thoroughly the first time! |
