EAGLE CARPORTS beware of EAGLE CARPORTS cana, Virginia
26th of Apr, 2011 by User977236
I went to a dealer for EAGLE CARPORTS looking for a metal barn for storage on my property, I saw a real nice building that was built properly and looked like it would last for years. so I bought it and was told that someone would call and set a date to put it up. I got the call and they gave me a date, when the date came we were told there was going to be a snow storm so I called EAGLE CARPORTS and told them, and was told "they work in weather like that all the time there will be no
problem" so I said OK, the crew showed up late in the afternoon and said "they had a job before mine but there was plenty of time to put up the barn" I went in the field and showed them the spot I wanted it and asked the foreman if it was level enough or did they need anything to make it level he said "no it is fine' I was also told the lot needed to be semi level from the start. they started to drive the truck onto my field (a ford f250 4X4) and got it stuck, I have a tractor and I offered to
pull them out I got my tractor out and we tried to pull them out but the strap they had broke so I went to get a chain when I came back I found one of the crew on MY tractor tring to pull the truck out with the emergence brake on. so when I finally got them out and to the spot they got to work they were laying the foundation and leveling it out when I had to got to work (i work the night shift) but after I left they abandoned all leveling practices and just bent the foundation rails to
fit the ground. they threw up the building and the roof is buckled in one spot and most of the building is off of the foundation rails 1 to 6 inches and supported by 3 to 4 screws per post so if those screws ever fail the building will collapse 1 to 6 inches and then the roof will really buckle. of coarse i didn't see any of this until the next day. i called EAGLE CARPORTS and talked to a guy named Gerald he was the costumer rep. I told him the story and he told me to take pictures and send him an emailso I did. I waited and waited finally I called him back and I got the run around for days he was on the phone.....he would call me back....he was in a meeting...when I finally got him he said he saw the pictures and it was definitely NOT right and he said they were going to look into
it and he would get in touch. so I waited a week and still no call so I called him and of coarse he was on the phone so I waited some more when he got on the phone he said he was talking to his general manager and would call me back in half an hour. I waited an hour and finally called HIM back and was told he had left for the day. so I asked to speak to his boss and when I told him the story he said that Gerald would call me in the morning. he called and said a crew was going to come out and fix
the problem. I asked if they were going to replace the bent rails and the scabbed together header and he said " yes they were" so I waited another 3 to 4 weeks finally they called and said there were sending the guys out to fix the problem, again I asked if they were going to replace the rails and header and fix the leveling problem. Gerald said yes they were. I was told the crew was going to be there at 2:00 pm so I took a day off work so I could watch them this time. they didn't this was a Friday. I told them there was no way they were going to be able to do the job before dark. so they agreed and said they would be back the next day at 7:00 am they showed up at 9:00am with a real bad attitude and said they weren't going to replace the rails because it was too much work and they were not getting paid for it. even though they had the rails on the truck. so I asked for the paper work and at first the gut didn't want to give it to me. but after he thought about it he
finally did and right on the work order it said "REPLACE 2 CENTER RAILS"i called Gerald on Monday and told him the hole story and he said he would call me back on Thursday because the G.M. was out of town until then, Thursday came and went and no call so I gave them until Tuesday because Friday was good Friday and I figured they would call by Tuesday but they didn't, i called them at 2:00 pm and was told the G.M. said " I got what i got" and they weren't coming back out. I paid over 7000.00
dollars for this barn and that's the best they can do? "you got what you got". I even gave them an out from the very begining and said all I wanted them to do was come and tac weld the support to the rails so there was no way the screws could fail but I was told they did not weld on site the guy that put the building up kept telling me "this is the way we do it all the time" if that is true then there will probably be a lot of warranty claims in there future if they are still around in the future. so I would NOT recomend EAGLE CARPORTS to anyone looking to buy any kind of storage building unless you want a crew of mexicans that speak broken english and when pressed about anything they are doing suddleny can't speak English, to throw up your building then when you have legitimate concerns about there construction practices you get the
runaround for months then get told "you got what you got."
