I was referred to Dr. Oruene from another physician. He is the pain management specialist at Apex Medical Center in Nevada. My first impression of him was that he didn't seem to have time to listen to my explanation of my chronic back pain, but I dismissed it as him being very busy. I don't have any personal dislike for the doctor, but I have found that in the time I have been going to him, that he is very liberal with doling out narcotic medication and when I pointed out that I was becoming immune to the strong narcotic drug he was prescribing, he became flustered (He already had the script filled out before he even entered the examining room.) and quickly wrote out another prescription. (It later became recalled, but it wasn't even coming close to controlling the pain, and with apprehension, I went back to the original medication. He wasn't too happy about that, but he complied. My biggest complaint is that after I was given three sessions of virtually useless (But very painful.) injections, (I only agreed to second and third appointments, because I was concerned he would discontinue my medication. I know wish I had.) my monthly appointments that originally was covered by my insurance, became outrageously high and I was forced to pay just for the honor of getting my necessary medications. (The appointments were just long enough to hand me my prescription and make another one for the following month. What a racket he has.) He has never once asked me how my physical therapy was going (That I requested and he hastily agreed too.) or even ask how the medication was helping or tell me some alternative treatment plan. When I asked about back surgery, he told me he didn't advise it. Of course not...he can't get paid if he isn't doling out medication. The last straw was today when I tried to go to an appointment with my original doctor, at the same office he practices at, (but not where I got the injections) and was forced to make a payment on his bill just to be able to see her. (No name mentioned, but I consider her a great and caring doctor. I'll miss her.) Although, I need medication to basically function on a daily basis, I will never go back to that doctor again. It is my opinion that he is all about the money, and doesn't have any real professional concern or regard about his patients. I could make a few more comments, but my back hurts too much. Thanks for nothing Dr. Oruene. You let me down. |
