I bought some steel toe boots in Portland, OR while traveling for work at the Dr. Martens store. I tried on a few pairs and picked a pair out. The sales lady couldn't find the pair I wanted and ended up boxing up a pair that were on display. At the time I didn't think too much of it and didn't try both shoes on. The next day I put the boots on and notices that one of the boots was irregularly shaped. It was slightly larger and wider than the other boot. I called the store and asked if I could send it back for a brand new pair. They said I could at my expense. I wasn't pleased with this as it would cost probably 10-15 bucks to send the shoes back from my home town that is 400 miles from Portland. I sent my complaint to corporate and after much hassle they sent me a FedEx shipping label to send the shoes back. I sent the shoes in requesting a new pair. To my dismay corporate Dr. Marten's said they didn't have the shoe and it would be close to 90 days before they got any more. What?! At this point I'm boiling. I asked for a refund and they said, 'We don't issue refunds here, only exchanges.' What?! Are you kidding?! The next day I received another email from the corporate office telling me that yet they had made another mistake and now they have the boots and they can send them out right away. I told them to forget it. I had already purchased a different pair of boots from another store and didn't want anything to do with Dr. Martens. I asked again for a refund. Corporate refused. At this time 2 months later I have contested the charge on my credit card and have not been issued a refund. Dr. Martens has not sent me the boots and has not issued a refund. Boycott this store and their bogus practices. This is completely pathetic that the store and the corporate office won't make it right for a customer when they sold a defective product and provided horrible customer service. They kept my money and the shoes. Thank god my credit card company is fighting them or I would be out the money.
