Stay Clear: We had called Door Boy to fix our garage door after it failed to open/close in 2010. After the repair man left, our garage was working. The very next day, it failed to open/close again. We were told that there would be an additional service charge and other possible charges for other parts needed. We were originally given a labor and material price to fix the garage door and specifically made sure that there were no other unforeseen issues that could make our pricing deviate from what we were quoted. They said that this would be the maximum charged. My wife contacted a Sheri that worked there, explained the situation and asked to have another repair man come out. My wife was not only spoken to in a nasty manner, but the company was unwilling to budge on returning to remedy our problem that was NEVER resolved. I had to pay another company to fix my garage door after Door Boy refused to make good on there service. On 02/24/2011, I received a letter threatening to put me in collections with a company called Transworld Systems. Should Door Boy persist with there threat and put me in collections, I will be filing suit for the amount I had to pay another contractor, as well as filing for treble damages as per NJ Consumer Fraud Act which states that a contractor has to obtain a written contract from a consumer (never had a signed contract), as well as 3 day right of rescission, start & completion date, etc - all of which was missing. I will also be notifying NJ Consumer Affairs and will be notifying other entities (via blogs, word-of-mouth, etc) to protect other consumers.
