I was trying to ship my car from Oregon to Maryland. I had called a company gotten a quote for $900.00 just shopping around and double checking on prices, called domestic auto transport and agent said could match the price and was going to call everyday to give me an update. She didn't call and she had said, so i decided to proceed with original company. After six days, agent calls and i told her wont be needing her services anymore and she said "ohh yes i will because she can see my car is to be transported by other company and the driver doing it is a preferred driver through their company so he will not be picking it up for the other company". She told me to file a claim through my bank to get my deposit back from them and my car was going to be picked up tonight. The error i made was assuming it was for the $900 dollar we had agreed on but because she never ever mentioned any price changed i knew it was for the $900 i had agreed on. So six days later i decided to call back and check on status of my car and progress just to be told it was being delivered that day. I was nowhere in the area as yet because i had been told it would arrive on the 10th then changed to the seventh , now its already there. The driver calls and says my payment due to them is $935, i was shocked, upon because $216 had been taken out of my account , now an extra $935 is to be paid. I am a college student, i don't have a job, where do I get that money from??? I called back and the lady is saying a different story, she denied that she told me to file a claim against the other company, she told me if i didn't pay, storage fees will be applied and i would pay more. i had to borrow money from a friend and plead for him to pick up the car. She said she agreed to try and match the price but she didn't so she charged e full price, she didn't send me a contract stating that information. I couldn't go to court either because it will entail me flying back to oregon to do it and will cost way more .
