I searched on the internet and found Dogwood trails kennel. I asked about an adorable looking puppy which is a King Charles Cavalier. However, I wanted a dog similar in size to my Pomeranian which is 6 pounds. Debbie Kuster the breeder assured me that the dog is also a small lap dog and would not get larger than 9 pounds. I knew nothing about the breed and believed her as she also advertised the dog as "Tiny". I gave her a deposit of $500. by pay pal which she watched by the minute to see when it would reach her account..she sent me a few e-mails after the transaction saying it did not go through yet..and then one when it did. THE FOLLOWING DAY I looked at her web site more closely and noticed one of her papillons next to a full grown King Charles Cavalier..there was aHUGE size difference and I realized that this was not the size dog I had wanted. I asked other breeders and they told me the smallest size for this breed is 13 pounds. I called the that NEXT day the breeder and explained that the dog is much bigger than I thought and what she led me to believe and I asked for my deposit back..she refused and said this is business. I thought perhaps I could use the deposit towards one of her papillons instead and asked..she said No..you lost your deposit..I wrote an e-mail asking again.. the next day she called me and said she has a papillon but it is not AKC registered and will only be 3-4 pounds which is smaller than I wanted..and that she would cost $1,000. - that sounded way too expensive for a dog that isn't even a pedigree. I asked if I could see a photo first to decide. She sent some photos and then changed her price to $1,200. - I looked on the site where I found her, Next Day Pets and all the other papillons that were AKC registered ranged from $350-$800. - Her price was way more because she is just a greedy opportunist. I wrote her an e-mail asking for my deposit back and that she could keep $50.00 of it since she quickly took it off the internet. She refused and e-mailed me a NASTY note telling me that I lost my deposit and to hang myself! |

we have recently had a horrific experience with this breeder. Our cavalier king charles spanial is VERY sick-and the breeder will not talk with us-or refund our money... rather she screams and calls us names; then says "what did you do to my dog?!". We have spent a small fortune in the past few weeks going from specialist to specialists. The dog has eye problems, knee problems, and seizures/neurological problems- all documented. We have invested love and emotion on our new puppy- whom we adore- but she is sick, and not the healthy pup we were told she was. We bought her with FULL AKC rights for $2000. in hopes of breeding her 1x with our FULL AKC male. This dog is not breedable. This dog 's health guarentee does not stand up. This women is ALL ABOUT THE MONEY, and not about anything else. She is a bully, and has been rude beyond discription through this difficult and emotional process. She now threatens to sue us. We are going to try to get the word out that this women is a not a reputable breeder... This my first post- not my last. |

I bought t two king charles cavaliers from Debbie Kuster, she told me they would only be around 13 pounds, woah...more like 25 pounds..these are very large dogs much taller than a normal Cavalier. Also she promised all the health promises...well...the tri-color had familial eye dystrophy...on both eyes..she is such a sweetie and may end up blind...this is a congenital affect! Both of them have patella luxations...they both huge uterus's when they were spayed...the vet said he had never seen anything like it...
now don't get me wrong...they are the sweetest, best personalitied dogs I have ever had...but our hearts are broken because of the suffering these gentle souls are going through because Debbie is really just another puppy mill...when we got the dogs they were so sick with bloody diarrhea that lasted for weeks until we found out that they had clostridium...that had been picked up in the kennel, and when we tried to tell this to Debbie she just denied it and said it was our fault.
I also know she does not raise them in her home with her...like advertized...both dogs had huge fear of eating issues that comes from being fed with huge groups...so sad...
I can only hope I can get the ASPCA to check them out and shut them down...I am working on this...please...don't get your heart broke here... |
